Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club (WTSC) will hold it's first 50m Prone competition on Sunday 9th April...

The competition will be held in Balbridgan in Fingal Target Clubs range.

Frist detail will be at 10:30.

For bookings and more information please contact WTSC.

This competiton will give those still attempting to reach the NTSA's MQS to be concidered for selection to the Irish team for the forth comming ISSF World Championships an extra opportunity to do so.

I will post more information as soon as I recieve it.

This will be our first prone match. Details of the match are still being sorted out, and will be posted on the Wilkinstown website and here as soon as they're ready.

Also note, this is the day after the Intervarsity match between TCD, UCD and DCU, held in the WTSC range as usual. (The dates being so close is one of the reasons we're holding off on the official announcement of the details).

The NTSA's post on this has changed, but we're still thrashing out the final details. Sorry for the short notice this'll entail folks, but we should have this all sorted and finalised by Sunday evening...

    50m Open

We are delighted to announce that we are holding our first 50m prone match this Sunday at the Fingal range, Balbriggan.

Firing slots are few and prebooking is required.

The match format is as follows:

We propose to run three details, using the three card system. First detail starts at 9.30 with 10 min prep time at 9.20.

Prep time for detail 2 is at 11.15 and for detail 3 at 13.15.

There will be championship and class matches. Entry fee including subscription is 15 euro.

We are very excited about this match and are looking forward to a great days shooting.

We are also very grateful to the Fingal Club for making their range available to us.

Hope to see you all down on Sunday.

We're using ISSF rules modified to allow for the 3-card system, as per the norm for this kind of match. There'll be 25 minutes per card, with five minutes to change cards; shooters may not return to sighter diagrams after starting on the scoring targets, unlike NSRA rules. Prebooking is essential, and several entries have already been received; the first detail has two slots left, the second three and the third six; so if you don't hurry, you'll miss your chance!

This is our first 50m open, so it may be a tad rough and ready as we don't actually have a 50m range of our own to train on, but as with air rifle and then air pistol, expect us to learn from mistakes rapidly and improve quite quickly :)

A small side note; our prizegiving evening worked so well, we're going to adopt this method of giving out prizes. So on the day of the match, there will be certificates given out for the winners of the overall match, and classes, but the actual medals and so forth will be given out at the next prizegiving evening. That way, you get to collect your medal in a nice warm room with family and friends applauding and have a good evening afterwards :)

    Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club
    Inaugural 50m Open Match

    09/04/06

The first ever WTSC 50m Open, run in conjunction with Fingal Target Shooting Club, was an excellent success. Fifteen shooters entered and put in good scores despite changing light and squirrelly wind. These fifteen included four shooters entering their very first ISSF smallbore match, including one of our own boards.ie shooters; these shooters will be receiving a hundred rounds of free ammunition to encourage them to continue to train and compete! Congratulations and thank you to all who entered and helped on the day, especially John Walls for the use of the range and also for contributing on-the-spot prizes for the overall winners and Pat O'Brien for scoring. A special mention to Joe O'Donoghue who donated his on-the-spot prize of ammunition back to Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club for use by the club in training in smallbore now that the club is expanding from air rifle and pistol into smallbore.

Certificates to commerate this competition will be awarded to all entrants; and medals for the overall and class winners will be awarded at the 2007 WTSC prizegiving evening.

WTSC would like to thank Fingal Target Shooting Club for the use of its range for this event and looks forward to the possibility of many more such events in the future.
