Right, need a cheaper alternative to Eircom Home Plus. Down to two alternatives:

BT: Good rate (€35pm for same package with line rental included.

Digiweb: Like the packages but know very little.

I know BT can be difficult to deal with and know next to nothing about digiweb.

    Informed opinions welcome

Digiweb wireless is only cheaper if you ditch the phone line.

NTL is fine if you can get it and want their Pay TV.

BT is good value when their billing system doesn't bite you (Mostly fixed now). UTV also have some decent products (or did have).

Smart if you want higher speed and less contention is good value for LLU version, but if you want a minimum Broadband, then it is not the cheapest.

IBB ripwave is cheapest but if you regard it as very cheap dialup then you will be happy and get days when it is like real broadband. Some people get perfectly working IBB.

Magnet is only good value if you can't get TV any other way as it is not cheapest and TV quality not the best.

Digiweb sell some totally different products:
ADSL based on Bitstream like BT, UTV, Eircom. OK but not stunning value
    FWA wireless. Only some areas.
Metro: Needs Line of Sight to mast. More areas, but not everywhere. The basic package is comperable to adsl and includes a link to work an ordinary phone over the wireless aside from the broadband bandwidth. Your existing number can be transferred.
Satellite: Not really broadband, but Internent access when nothing else is available. Good for file transfer / email. No use for games and rapid response forms/website.

Smart and Magnet rely on LLU from Eircom which is slow.

Smart, magnet and UTV are not available as local echange still not opened.

    Is digiweb consistantly fast?

Enter your location here to check what's available in your area.
BT are probably the cheapest of the bitstream re-sellers, but have very dodgy billing for lots of people still.

What exactly are you basing this statement on when as far as I know there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back it up?

(and how could a billing system be cosidered ok if it was 'mostly fixed'?????)

EsatBT do not deserve any recommendation however vague until it is clear that they have a billing system that fully works - consistently over a period of months and can be trusted by customers.
