    Afternoon all,

I'm on the hunt for a Transit type of van, and dragging thru the buy and sell and the AutoTrader, is driving me nuts, as most have been sold before you get to them.

Does anyone know of a garage or even better, and area where there are a few for court garages that sell commercial vans. I'm not in the market for the 10K ones, looking more around the 3-3.5K

    Thanks in ad-VAN-ce,

    Pip

Not much in your price range, and they look a little small for the landscaping but try here:

If you up the price to 4K, this seems to be what you are looking at:

Have you considered getting a normal SUV and turning into a commercial? Or even a large hatchback?

Also, pick up a copy of CBG from the newsagent - may not be any particular vans that suit, but it may at least give you a list of garages to monitor. I am pretty sure there is a dedicated commerical section in it.

Eoin_S, once again I salute you.

I'm going to pick up a couple of autotrader type mags tonight.

On the SUV thing/..., I was thinking on that , but wasn't sure if I would still avail of the low tax that I would get on a van.

I guess whilst we're on the subject, does any one know the rules and regulations for changing a 4x4/suv, in to a commercial vehicle.

    Cheers,

    Pip

I am thinking about converting myself these are the regulations:

In orderto avail of the goods (commercial) motor tax rate, a vehicle (e.g jeep
or SUV) must be used commercially at all times and adapted for the
carriage of goods. The necessary adaptations are that all seats and
    seat
belts to the rear of the driver's seat must be removed, seat belt
connections and anchor points must be welded over and the goods
    carrying
area must be greater than the seating area. Otherwise, the vehicle
    must
be taxed as a private vehicle

i started a simular thread also and saw this company in longford:

changing from Private to Goods tax class usually requires you to get a form stamped and signed by Gardai to verify that the vehicle will solely be used for commercial purposes, you have to sign the form in their presence etc etc.

Also check out the exact tax rate you will be paying on the Transit because I know it goes by the unladen weight of the Van so the bigger/larger the van the more tax you pay...it starts @ €250 annually for small vans like mine :)
