Frields of mine moved here approx 7 years ago from Englend. Husband, Wife and 3 kids. Both employed (one by the Dept of Health) and paying Tax, PRSI etc.
Recently denied childrens allowance while Dept verify their existance in this country. This has happened twice before and on each occasion they have to prove they live and work here and wait 2-3 mths for payment. On each occasion they have to provide letters from employers.
While they spoke with an official from the department they were told that they are one of 900 families on a list to be checked and indicated that they may be audited every 3-6 mths.
Is this fair? Can the dept not just check their P60's? Is it harrasment? Why can they not satisfy themselves and move on to the next family to audit? It it a waste of state resources targeting the same family with the same outcome each time?

    Anyone got any ideas....

While I don't like saying "they should get in touch with thier TD(s)" this is one occasion they should! That sounds, on the face of it completly wrong.

Have the family ever moved out of the state for a period since they arrived?

    Mike.
