How much will all the kit cost, and installation.

Thinking of getting it next season as well.

I would suggest you take a look at a technomate 1500ci super. Excellent receiver and you wont need a cam for the card. Can be got on ebay for around £110. Then a Sky dish depending on what part of the country you are in. Otherwise an 80cm dish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭ShevY

just got a Tm 1500+ recently, along with an art+al Jazeera card.

I would recommend getting a motor aswell for the sake of an extra 60euro.

    well worth it :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

I currently have sky+ but I'll be moving house for the start of next season, will my sky dish do the job(is it not 60cm?)

Hows it working out for you shevy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,231 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

Yeah sky dishes are 60cm for Ireland anyway.
Otherwise 80cm to play it safe.

    Whats the picture quality like?

Whats your setup, do you have Sky digital as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭ShevY

ART pic quality seems fine to me on a 28" CRT.

    TM 1500CI+ super
    Motech sg2100a
    1m dish
    ART + Al J. Card

not wanting to give sky my money is why i got this setup

I ordered the Art card (one with World Cup) from the ebayer listed above, I will let you know when I get it if it works in my Dreambox

    Cheers

Excellent purchase you have made there Snake. I see he is selling them at buy it now for €125. That is outstanding value. I was in touch with this guy over the weekend and once this batch is gone he will not be getting more, well so he says anyway. At this moment he has 11 remaining, so I would recommend to get them now instead of waiting until nearer the new soccer season.

Hey Thanks to you Aquos that I got the deal, cause when I did a search for the cards it did not come up with this Guy. Anyone know when the Preimiership will finish next May? Just want to make sure the card doesn't run out before the end of next season :)
As I'm a big Spurs fan from looking at Lovely Jubbly's football site they nearly always had a spurs game on every week last season.

    Thanks again

    Snake ;)

I have heard from many people that Al-jazeera will broadcast the english Coca cola championship,is that true?
I also wonder if it is four sport channels or just Al-jazeera +1 and +2.

Lads, make sure that when you do purchase, its the red cards that you get and not the blue. Those red ones are expected to carry Art 5 & 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Would it be worth getting this card - http://cgi.ebay.ie/12-Month-Art-Sports-Cards-World-Cup-Prem-League_W0QQitemZ320001328804QQihZ011QQcategoryZ60837QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

As it includes the movies and stuff as well.

Or is it not worth it ?

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,051 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

That is one of the old blue type cards. Wont have Art 5 & 6 on it. Also there is no english audio feed on any of those movie channels afaik.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,051 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

This would be excellent value, but you may need to email him first about his postage charges, a bit of a rip off considering he is in Belfast.

I live in apartment out in Skerries, I would like to keep my bbc 1-4 and itv have the sky blue card with the yellow house. But I also want to go this route. I have a normal 60 cm sky dish can I ger a second LNB for the dish that would point in the right direction and then the technomate reciever and card how feesable is this to do?

    You're on the right track.

    Sky is on 28 degrees.
    Art is on 13 degrees.

two LNBs on the dish are required.

recommend you get a bigger dish. 80cm.

what you're asking is very feasible. In fact I have such a setup as do many people.

not a big deal. you should add astra1 at 19e as well

    try www.satellite.ie

they supply and fit installs like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,485 ✭✭✭Psygnosis

    Thanks for the reply.

I am not sure whether I could put a 80cm dish at the font of my apartment it may be 2 big. Will it work with a 60cm dish.

Can you give me links to what I need as I have looked and a cant seem to locate the arm that lets you use 2 lnbs one pointing at 19 and the other at 28.
Is this something I could do my self.

Also if I could get rid of the sky reciever I would be happier its old and slow, what reciever could I use and keep the channels I would probably loose the epg Yes?
If so Ill keep the Sky part.

Does the disec let 2 different lnbs work through the same cable?
And then the cable splits and one goes 2 sky and the other to a another reciever.

YES but could be a bit tricky getting reception in the rain.

yes / no / hows your father.
    there are many solutions.
get a dual common interface with a cam for art and a dragon for Sky
    would be my preferred.
how many TVs do you have ?

    yes

    yes
    NO

Ok so if I purchased this
    http://www.satellite.ie/acatalog/triax_multi_lnb_bracket.html
with the 2 options at the bottom ticked.
Then how hard is this to install.
Purchase a second box with the cards think Ill go the route of 2 recievers for the mo
so what do you think and recommend
    thanks for your patience.

    OK

    You are looking good.

The 2 x LNBs attach onto the bracket.

Point one at 28e and another at 13e. (buy a cheap satfinder in Maplins).

leave your 28e feed into the Sky box.

send the new cable to the new box.

    NB
make sure you buy a box that can take a viewing card !!!!!!!!!!!!
a free to air box will be no good.
A digibox is no good too.

    PPS
the Sky LNB is different to the Hotbird LNB.
ask the supplier to give you a bracket that takes both types.

    PPPS
    buy CT100 satellite cable

all in all you should be able to set this up ok. nothing too tricky.

You do not need the disecq switch because you are using two boxes so you
    are not switching anything.

You only need to buy one LNB because you already have the Sky one.

Thinking of setting for ART as well.

Seen a Technomate 1500CI+ and 7755 2VA2CI on Ebay, not much difference in price but which would be better ?
Will they both take the Art card ? Or do I need to buy a CAM ? Also what are Matrix etc CAM’s used for ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭ShevY

the 1500+ has a viacess slot and the 7755 has 2.
    No need for any CAMs.

Personally id go for the 1500+ as i think its bettered supported with patches atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭jeffred

Anyone else looking for one of these. I am ordering some over the weekend and will have them available from next week. I will have a final price including postage within the next few hours.

I should be slightly cheaper that those in the link. They will be the Full Art package and both Al Jazerra channels.

Post here or PM me if you are interested.

Mods feel free to delete this if I am outside the rules.

I'd rather if this was taken to PM, as the thread is turning into a selling area.

But feel free to discuss about the cards themselfs in the thread.

    OK

    business in the PM box.

looking at the early listings, these cards seem brilliant value
    compared to you know who.

does anybody know how much Serie A matches they carry ?

First one is private in the feedback dept. So thats a nay from me. I wouldnt feel ok.

Second one has 400 odd feedback so thats better.

The blue cards dont have Al Jazeera.

Not that I have heard. I will get on to my contact and try and find out for you.

The red card with Al Jazeera Sport is worth having - I remember a few games last year that popped up on that channel.
The only thing that seems to be missing from Art Sport is having widescreen format but I guess for that price you can't complain.
The Ryder Cup would be a real bonus.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,051 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

I was speaking to two sellers over in Tusnia last night and both of these guys have confirmed that these Art + Al Jazeera cards are no longer been sold. Art are not happy with the arrangement is the official line. Art will continue to sell their own cards, just like Al jazeera will their own.

Anyway, what this means is anyone that has one of these cards are not affected, and anybody that still have batches to sell are likely to increase prices. These cards will work for their duration.

If people are still thinking of purchasing one of these from ebay and the price is still low, I would suggest you do it now.

Not true, there are some blue cards that have both packages. You will see the Al Jazerra logo in the corner of the card.

Though I am assuming you are referring to the blue card in the ebay link posted.
