Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

South Park 10x05 - The return of towelie

Towelie is back in the new episode of South Park on Wednesday. If the episode is a small fraction as good as Towelie's first appearance (one of my favourite South Park episodes) then I will be very happy.

Here's a bad quality promo for it

Oh god yes, I loves Towelie. Can You actually buy those Towelie towels?

ahahah he's on oprah, i'm sure there will be some subtle tom cruise bashing in this one.

I thought there was a towelie-ban in place. Wasnt that in the Ginger Kids episode ? There was an episode a while ago where somone was reading a newspaper with the headline 'Towelie-ban declared'

I did manage to buy my last girlfriend a talking Towelie Towel... he was only a small little thing.. but he'd say things like "Don't forget to bring a towel!", "Want to get high?" and "I have no idea what's going on right now!"

He had a normal face on one side and a stoned face on the other.

According to this FAQ: FAQ you can't.

That was a while ago though, maybe they have made them since then.

They really skimped on the animation budget in this one, didn't they?

Not the best of episodes actually... they really over laboured the whole James Frey thing. And no amount of talking minges were going to save this episode.

It was a weak enough episode but I laughed at their sheer ridiculousness of it.

    Highlights for me:
    - Mingey and Gary made me laugh (especially Mingey's inexplicable English accent)
    - I loved Gary and Mingey's emotional conversation about Paris at the end of the episode
    - "You're a beaner towel"
    - "Of course I'm not a towel. Why would I be wearing this hat and a fake moustache?"

I enjoyed the episode and I laughed but it was definitely the weakest of this so far very strong season

Yeah it was funny on a depraved level. It definalely lacked on animation levels with the close ups on Oprahs gowl

I love people going on about the skimping on animation. Lest we forget this is South Park! :)

Good ep. I like the way this show isn't constrained by formats and if they want to do an ep that doesn't feature Cartman an Co (and isn't even in South Park) then that's what they'll do.

I reckon they were all really high when they made this one.

No, did you not hear the moral of the ep? They did the work and THEN got high as a reward.

it was a great episode tbh i rate it higher than "the return of chef" and "smug alert"

I thought it was a pretty weak episode but that they could have done more with it. Perhaps they could have gone into more the aspects of A Million Little Pieces that James Frey fabricated, the quasi-religious following that Oprah's Book Club has and how sick and wrong it is that people only buy books on the recommendation of a chat show host.

The talking clopper/hole thing looked to me like they wanted a quick way to throw in the requisite quota of lowbrow stuff. Not necessarily bad, just easy.

I didn't like this episode, which is a shame because I really like Towlie. I just didn't find this funny. Some of the things Towlie said like
"I learned that I shouldn't get high to come up with ideas. I should come up with ideas and then get high to reward myself.", or "If I were a towel why would I be wearing this hat and this fake mustache"
were good, but it wasn't enough to save this from being, IMO, one of the worst South Park episodes ever.
