I would LOVE to get my hands on that book. If it surfaces, please let me know.

    Tall Tom,

Regarding the 'Book on Ardara People' Click here:- http://www.highlandradio.com/shaundoherty.php

E-Mail the Shaun Doherty Show direct, and they should be able to give you a lead. The book and the photographer had a long slot last week. So they should be able to tell you the name of the Publishers. The book is a 'Limited edition'.

The Shaun Doherty Show broadcasts Monday to Friday from 10.00 am to 1.00pm (GMT). So you will have to wait until Monday before contacting them.

Let us know how you get on :) .

    Good luck.

Taken 20 years ago. A lot of concrete poured, and tarmac laid, since then! For people unfamiliar with Letterkenny, the fields down by the river are covered with a variety of retail units(cinema, car showrooms, supermarket, McDonald's etc.)

Ay, It were all green fields around here when ah were a lad!

It's easy to forget how much it's grown over the last 15 years or so. It's fairly rare these days that I make it as far as Letterkenny, but every time it seems to have crept that bit closer to Derry.

Yeah, I remember Letterkenny back in the late 70's when it was three blocks long and had the cattle auction in the middle. I went with my uncles to watch them auction off some cattle.

Gee, Ballyshannon looks deserted! Was the pic taken at 06.35 on a Sunday morning?

Maybe it was taken during the Rory Gallagher Festival. ;) Only joking!

Where'd you take the shot from? Looks like the 2nd floor of some building.

I took my timecheck from the clock tower in the distance. Remind me NOT to use it, the next time I pass through(thru)!

Heh, that clock doesn't seem to work a lot of the time (of course, you could argue that it's right twice a day!) :)

I thought Dorrians was on the other side of the street?

NO the picture is definitely from Dorrians! I recognise it. The place opposite used to be the Assaroe Hotel, though that's gone now.

I think there is the electrics store up the block, and I think there is a abrakabarba there. DOrians was nice though. I don't know why they also own the chemist's though, and that garrish thatched pub.

Me memory must be off. Ain't been up that street in a while. Usually when I'm in BallySheamLand I'm seeing the relations on The Mall then usually drive out the coast road. Next time I'm there (in September) I must take a stroll up the street.

Nanook and Muffler, this thread was one of Paddy's better ideas. If you look at the number of views and replies, then I think it should be stickied. What say ye paragons of virtue?

In post no. 116 which was 4 weeks ago I threw down the gauntlet and said get 10 more posts with pics and we would consider it. So far there has been only 2 more picture posts with another post with a link to another site which doesn't count.

There's your challange but if its going to take take a month to get 2 picture posts up then the interest isn't there.

So get your cameras out and start flashing (sorry smashey, you never needed a camera to do that :D )

That sounds like a challange! I won't be able to get flashing (with the camera) until I'm home in Sept. But in the meantime here's some I've taken over the years:
