Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Miss: Gylfi Einarrsson - Have yet to see the best of the Icelandic international because he has siffered from injury all season.

    sheffield wednesday

    2 irishmen involved.I dont get to see them much but the general consensus has been....

    HIT: Graham Coughlan - fans said he was immense in central defence all season

    MISS: Glenn Whelan - fans felt far too many games passed him by and didnt get stuck in.He has been the target of many angry threads on the message board and sections of the crowd.I myself feel too much is expected of him

    He played up front so maybe some goals , some hold up play, some attacking intent, not a god damn unknown love of corner flags!!

    Where is he now? He certainly isnt playing for the best team in Dublin and i know Shels got rid of him. /zing

    Flop : Ashley Cole - been injured the whole season

    Man City:

    Hit: Samaras - Pearce took a gamble signing an U-21 international (at the time) for 6million and he's scored some vital goals. I would have gone for Cole but he's been out injured for some time
    Flop: Thatcher - Consistently caught out of position. Stephen Jordan's injuries are the only reason he's played so much.

    Man U

    Hit:
    For me, has to be Van Der Saar. He hasn't been our best player this season, Rooney has, IMO, but he has given us a much needed stability at the back which we've been missing for a long time. Has made some incredible saves at some important times.

    Miss:
    I'd have to say either Evra - who hasn't convinced me at all, or over the course of the full season Fletch. He doesn't cut it, in my eyes.

    The mighty Owls

    Hit - Graham Coughlan, think he has played every position this season to cover for injury problem. Even goalkeeper:D

    Bad Season: Althou Whelan hasnt had the best of season's I think this was due to expectations, he is still very young and getting the captains arm band and his form suddenly dropped drastically. Remember people when we where up near play offs at start of season this was because Whelan had dragged the team up there.

    Miss: My miss for season is JP McGovern, missed the whole season thru injury after so much promise in first season

    Spurs:

    HIT: Robbie Keane (brilliant season so far) Michael Carrick, Michael Dawson, Arron Lennon

    MISS: Paul Stalteri (ok getting foward but very vulnerable at the back, never looks comfortable defending, and is prone to giving away silly freekicks in dangerous positions), Edgar Davids (great at the start of the season but has fizzled out lately), Jermaine Defoe (unfortunately hasnt done enough to warrant a place in the starting eleven - he had to prove that him and robbie were a better option than robbie + mido but hasnt taken his chances when he has played)

    Liverpool;

    Hit('s);
    1st team; Sissoko - found his feet quickly and has grown with each game. Brave as fúck!
    (also brief mention's for Kewell with his return to form and Alonso for taking the role of leader whenever Gerrards not available)
    Reserves/Youth's; Anderson - great young player, potential very bright future with Liverpool and England.
    Other; Mark Gonzalez - May not have kicked a ball for liverpool yet, but has been outstanding for Real Sociadad since pool bought him. Looking forward to next year!

    Miss;
    Morientes & Cisse - what would have been my preferred strike partnership at the start of the season has failed to flourish completely. (Also brief mention for Traore - still scares me whenever i see him on teamsheet!)

    Man Utd

    Hit - Rooney (no surprises there), Saha for proving hes more than a reserve striker, Bardsley was excellent in the absence of Neville.

    Flop - Fletcher kaks himself everytime hes in possesion, Silvestre, Richardson for not living up to obvious potential.

    HOw in the hell can you judge Evra? He has played like 7 games, for god sake get over yourself.

    Hit: Ruud
    Miss : Fletcher (Hasn't taken his big chance, when Scholes and Keane left. The guy has something, but I don't think he is going to make it at United. Expected to be sold this summer)

    Hit - Jobi McAnuff (destined to follow in the footsteps of David Hopkin, Julian Gray and Wayne Routledge and be the next wide man to bail out of Palace)

    I am not a pool fan I but I believe from just watching Harry Kewell play, I think he has improved his game this season and started to show signs of the Harry Kewell of old.

    i'd agree with mike tbh, kewell has improved steadily as the season has gone on and he's a much more confident and relaxed player than he was at the start of the season. if you ask me the people who are blind tend to be those who cannot see this and create unrealistic expectations for kewell. it amazes me every time i go to the pub to watch a 'pool game the amount of liverpool fans slagging kewell off every time he fails to beat the entire defence and score a wonder goal.

    biggest hit this season has to be sissoko
    biggest miss considering money paid, his potential and his utter crapness in front of goal - cisse

    Its world cup year of course kewell was gonna get his arse in gear.

    Campbell hasn't played much, and offered performances varying from outstanding to 'orrific in the few games he's had. Ljungberg has played and played and played some more, and just kept playing badly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,391 ✭✭✭arbeitsscheuer

    Freddie's performance at the Bernabeu was good enough for me to let him off the hook on its own, even if he hadn't had some other good performances (which, IMO, he has).

    Don't get me wrong, he hasn't been one of our better players, not by a long shot... But he hasn't been any worse than quite a few of em.

    Campbell? Sell the f**ker.
    If we can get anything for him, that is.

    Everton

    Hit: Arteta (Without a doubt the best player this season. Phil Neville a close second)
    Miss: Van der Mayde (he has been injured for most of the season though and has never played with full fitness. Hopefully he gets a run together next season)

    Hard to pick a hit for liverpool this season - plenty to choose from.

    Have to go with Gerrard. He had a great season and I like the way he hasn't complained about playing on the wing.

    Flop would have to be Cissé. He's a terrible terrible footballer. He is also very lazy - so you never get the impression that he's trying hard to prove himself - I reckon he is still reading into his hype from when he was banging em in in France.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 186 ✭✭futuredeath

    the problem with picking a hit with liverpool and im not trying to make this a liverpool thread is choosing from - alonso, sissoko, gerrard, kewell, reina, hyypia, finnan and carragher who have all been fantastic.

    I'd almost go with Sissoko for the fact that he made such an unexpected impact.

    Miss - cissé, as above.
