yeah i've told him this but hes been planning it for months and is going over to live in Australia in a few weeks so he wants his tattoo before then, i've seen what hes getting and I don't really think its something he'd regret down the road

If they tattoo a 17 year old they are dodgy. Tell em wait a few months

Sorry I didnt know it was actually illegal to tattoo an under 18 I just thought most tattoo parlours imposed the rule

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    It's not.
But like you say, tattoo shops impose the rule, because they believe it SHOULD be illegal to tattoo someone under 18. Honestly, look around and I'm sure you'll fins someone to tattoo your brother, but the likely hood is that if someone is willing to tattoo him when hes only 17, they're dodgy and you shouldn't WANT them to tattoo you, because you'll get a bad job. I can understand that your brother wants it done now and I'm sure at 17 he may indeed be perfectly capable of deciding on something for the rest of his life, but he should realize that he'll probably be better off waiting and getting someone to work on him thats not just in it for the money.
Sorry, I know it's not the answer you want.

yeah I see where your coming from, it was his 17th birthday a few days ago, and he had been talking about this tattoo for months so I was going to pay for it for him for his present but I don't want to be responsible for him getting a bad tattoo that he has to live with for the rest of his life, do you think any decent tattoo parlours will tattoo him with a parent/gaurdian

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

Yeah some of the good parlours will tattoo if you have parental consent alright. I'm not from Dublin myself, so maybe one of the lads on here will be able to tell you what ones do/don't.

Most shops will do it if you have a parent with you.

Personally i think its a bad idea tell him to wait a few years thinking about the design it'll turn out a lot better. This is what happens when you don't spend enough time thinking about your tattoos 200508272119-pix1.jpg

oh my god. You're gonna try and scare everyone off getting tattooed with me cool ice aren't you.
And I don't think that's necessarily true, I got my first tattoo when I was 17 and I still like it. Saying that I wanted it for over 2 years previous to getting it, but still.

See you spent enough time thinking about it. For a my first and second i had the designs i was gonna use on my wall for years so i could see them everyday and see if i got sick of them. And for my backpiece i've been planning on getting it since i was in primary school. So imo waiting is the best thing to do.
