So what are you waiting to hear this year? Seems to be some big names putting out new material. However, what has me twitching impatiently are the prospect of new albums by Celtic Frost, Voivod and Aghora.

    What is on your list?

Tooooooooooooooool. That is all. And maybe Metallica's new album will be interesting.

New Maiden album. And the Tool album should be damn good too (just getting into them over the last few months, brilliant band).

For some reason I'm not expecting the Metallica LP to appear until next year.

New Tool should be interesting, apparently a big departure from their old sound. I've never listened to Aghora before, but if stickman-of-God Sean Reinert is involved, I can't see it being bad. If Mastodon offer up anything past Call of the Mastodon, I'll be very pleased, and I have hope for the new Metallica album. Not much, but even the barest hint of a return to form would please me, and with Rubin involved, the prospect is rather more tangible than with Rock. Other than that, anyone who puts out a great new record over the next few months is alright in my books to be honest.

what little ive heard of the new tool album, has been fairly dissapointing.
from people ive talked to who've heard the whole thing they say there's only 2/3 good songs.
Mastodon's blood mountain should be interesting because as a concept record its so f***ing out there.
the new celtic frost bored me, but shall give it a few more listens before i fully make up my mind.
i cant imagine why people are actually anticipating chinese democracy, complete joke of a band... but thats just imo.
really looking forward to carpathian forest's & down's new releases though.
im a real big fan of the new cd's by sick of it all(hardcore), cult of luna, enslaved, pearl jam, bloodthorn, textures, velvet acid christ(industrial)

tool's new album is definitly getting mixed reviews from fans. its a little less consistant and doesnt run together as smoothly. each song seperatly is brilliant but all together, it doesnt seem to fit...or at least thats from what iv heard
Also looking forward to anything new from myruin.

Sepultura's Dante has been the highlight so far for me. Next up Mastodon's Blood Mountain will be ace. New Hatebreed will be the same old reliable hatebreed. Kingdom of Sorrow should be good and if ChineseDemocracy comes out it will be rather good. Oh and Muse will be great. James Dean Bradfields solo effort I am looking forward to hearing but don't think it will be up to much.

I was looking forward to Queensrcyhe's stab at a sequel to Mindcrime but then I heard it and realised how painfully average it is. I doubt I'll even bother to buy it now to be honest. Never thought I'd say this but Geoff Tate oversings on practically every track. Jackson, Rockenfield and Wilton sound like they're being held back as there are flashes of brilliance from all three that permeate the mediocrity now and again. Mike Stone sounds utterly lost.

On the positive side of things, I'm looking forward to the new Luca Turilli offering. His first few albums were solid prog metal affairs and I feel he's on the verge of delivering the stereotypical (in prog) great breakthrough fourth album.

I'm also interested in the following new offerings among others:

    Blaze
    Manowar
    Metal Church
    Axel Rudi Pell
    Black Label Society
    Slayer
    Iron Maiden

It should be noted though that I hold out very little hope for the new Slayer album to be anything other than more of the same generic crap we got on God Hates Us All, but there's always a chance that I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hoping Zakk Wylde can recover too after the relative disappointment of Mafia.

Finally I predict that Maiden's new one should be awesome and that Metal Church's new disc will surprise many in being close to their old best.

    Audioslave
didnt know that till you said it and i checked wikipedia. This is exellent news.

    Velvet Revolver
    Pearl Jam
Might give the new RHCP album a go.
The Offspring (and a rummoured rare/b-sides album would rule.)
Would like to see some new qotsa stuff but it might be next year before there is a new album.

I also wonder if they will release Johnny Cash american V, or have the songs planned for that album been included in the un-earthed box set. Anyone know if this is the case?

I can't wait for sikth's new album to come out on the 26th of June especially after hearing a song off it here http://www.myspace.com/sikth

Are Machine Head in a position to release a new album by the end of this year of will it be early 07?i suppose it will depend on how long it takes to write it.

And Slayer, although it prob won't be as good as Seasons....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,461 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Oh yeah, forgot about Velvet Revolver! And if there was some new QOTSA, it would also be lovely. Id doubt the Metallica album will be released this year. But, what really catches my eye here is, a NEW SMASHING pUMPKINS ALBUM. When? Who's on it?

I`m looking forward to this one too although I`m a little aprehensive.Their debut was such a step forward that I fear I`ll be a little disappointed with the follow up.

Lacuna Coil (already here, not as fantastic as hoped)
    Therapy?

And Rammstein have disappeared underground, hopefully they're up to something...
