And they messed up her grammar... Run!

What is worse is that I started typing the correct word, then backspaced and wrote the incorrect one, thinking I had had a lucky escape:(

Going to drop everything for about a minute or two later again to apply some more tweaks.

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,325 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Pfft, can hardly expect my spelling to be fantastic while I hurriedly mash some keys on my phone to update twitter in the middle of fixing things (server in one arm, phone in the other, screwdriver held by my teeth). :)

There was some jerk in that other thread complaining about twitter not being updated in 16 hours. News for you buddy, I a) sleep and b) was actually fixing things.

We've identified a major problem that requires attention, just figuring out the best way to address it (one way is to spend thousands of euro on new hardware) but there's not really any fast, cheap AND scalable way to fix it so it'll randomly knock the site off every few weeks. Fixing it essentially involves hitting it with a spanner (which most host provide rather effectively these days in the form of IPKVM).

Anyway I am rambling, just assume that I am spending an inordinate amount of my time in and out of work figuring out ways to make boards harder, better, faster, and stronger.

Is it wrong that this post turned me on a little bit? All manly in a nerdy way!

Site seems to be worker a lot faster now which is great.

sounds like the best thanks a guy beating up a server could get :p

Ok, that's the last of the tweaking for the evening, again, maybe about 20-30 minutes of not-quite-lightning performance until the cache catches up.

If this bit of tweaking doesn't work, I'll revert to the previous config tomorrow morning.

    Thanks!

All the OT is totting up ;)

Is the site slower again or is it me? Most of yesterday and today Its taking maybe a minute for a page to load and sometimes it just hangs there forever.

I have tried it on both IE and FF2 but same result.

Yeah just read that immediately after my post. Excuse my hast, I just got into the office and started panicking that I might actually have to do something this morning

Don't mind Xavi, CuLT, a combination of the antipodean sun and watching too much Aussie Misrules Football is getting to him ... :D

You just put them there now to make us look foolish.

You should know that I don't need your help to look foolish, I'm perfectly capable of doing that all on my own.

See, I'm doing it right now.

It might be the backup finishing, it's slowly drifting later each night...
    It now starts @03:39

Could be but every page I've tried to access has worked. We shall see anyway.

The drift is a feature, not a bug. Keeps the 3am thread interesting.
