    2 of them have Treasure Island Dizzy down as their first gaming addiction... I really don't care what they look like once I've heard that.

    I wonder if they managed to complete it..? It was a pretty tough game... only 1 life and very easy for the eggy bastard to roll into a burning torch.

    Yes, Ubisoft have gathered us, a group of passionate girl gamers, from all over the UK, to put the record straight. Whether you’re a girl or a guy, old or young, an experienced gamer ranking up hours online every night or the sort who just grabs half an hour on the PS2 before Coronation Street, it’s time to spread the word that gaming is fun and it’s for everybody.

    The thing is...these girls are all stunning, wear copious amounts of make-up and look a tad pre-fabricated. It is painfully obvious that these girls were picked because of their looks. I think that site is a bit sick because it's only honouring girls who could easily make it to the cat-walk. It is giving the illusion that all gamer girls look like them.

    Gamer-guys, when respected, are respected for their gaming skills. When gamer-girls are concerned...as long as they know how to hold a joy-pad, know the difference between first-person and third-person and have a nice ass....they are respected. That's what the site is saying to me.

    I'm not saying that cute gamer-girls don't exist nor am I saying that those girls cannot play well but this just reminds me of so many gaming shows I have seen....the guys are generally really smart gamers who know their stuff and the girls are just token dolls who know a few special moves in Street Fighter.

    Maybe I'm taking this too seriously...

    Well, they definitely seem fabricated, but hired based on their looks? From the UK ones, only "Voodoo" seems like she could be hired based on looks (and from what I can tell on their site, she was in that clan PMS before she joined so seems to be a gamer). The rest are average/normal.

    If anything, it's giving the illusion that "girl gamers" can be average or attractive, because a lot of people assume(d) that if you're a girl and play games, you're an "ugly, fat lesbian".

    True, I've often been asked if I was fat or lesbian. No joke. Stereotypes can be ridiculous sometimes....>_<' But what happens more often than that is people thinking I'm a guy trying to get some attention...not sure which is worse...

    I really don't get the problem with attractive girl gamers promoting games. From what I can tell you guys seem to think that you have to be a gawky, skinny person with no charisma to play games, and only if you fit that criteria can you truly be a gamer.


    People are all different. Just because you wear "preppy" clothes does not mean you can't be into metal as much as being a remotely attractive girl doesn't instantly make you incapable of enjoying video games. Those girls probably do play games. Why else would they have bothered applying for such a job?

    Hakumei Naru, you're not making very much sense. First you say not all gamers look like supermodels then you call the stereotypes defining girl gamers as fat lesbians ridiculous. Like koneko said "If anything, it's giving the illusion that "girl gamers" can be average or attractive".

    I phrased that really badly. I just mean like just because some girl gamers, such as the Ubisoft ones are attractive doesn't mean you should take a big stance against it. Everyone knows that not every single one will be a super model but also that not every single one will be a total minger. Seemed to me like you were offended at the thought that there could be girls of above average levels of attractiveness into gaming and that girls working for software companies are all faking their interests.

    No, I just don't like the idea that only the very attractive ones get attention. They should be getting attention for their gaming skills, not their looks. I don't have a problem with good looking gamer girls...I just have a problem when people are supposed to be highly regarded for a reason (such as gaming) but are actually being exposed to the public because of their looks.

    In fairness most of those frag dolls are average looking. None of them are spectacular, they just look like regular girls so I don't know what you're getting annoyed about.
