Urban 200 or Mtrax x1 or what?

I am looking about at bikes at the mo, I cannot afford a Sirrus so it looks like it will be one of the fore mentioned. Has anyone here any knowledge of these or any ideas of a better bike around the 300 mark? Are raleigh still middle of the road bikes they were in my youth? Claude Butler seems popular, any good ?
