As a neccessity I am currently condisdering improving insulation on upstairs floor due to loud noise downstairs from the pine floors upstairs (impact/airnourne noise) . Appears floor was installed directly ontop of joists! - hse 2 yrs old. Have considered false ceiling but as have down lights now considering lifting T&G and inserting insulation between joists etc. Does anyone know of suitable materials and where I could get them? Any typical costings or advise and ways to improve situation appreciated.

Moy and Kingspan do thermal insulation rolls and slabs. You should find db refs on their web sites.
