Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will Final Cut Studio take over from Avid?

What do you think? Given that Apple are pushing their Post Production software so hard, are they going to dominate the market in the future?

I know everyone has their preferences, but I'm looking for an objective view.

As a student who has used both, I can see both of their merits. At the moment, I'm using FC Studio and the integration between FCP and Soundtrack Pro is pretty nifty.

I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks will be the 'industry standard' in 5-10 years.

No, saying that, I'm not a massive lover of Avid, but I don't think it will.

Well out of the 40+ edit suites in work, we've got 4 FCP.

It'd be madness for them to get rid of the Aivds to go FCP.

well thatd be the way things are..places seem to be automatically fitted with avid.
in college however id say of 24 people only 4/5 are avid users the rest final cut and a few are premiere. all the college suites are avid.

Yeah I know where you're coming from. Having said that, the BBC have gone right over to FCP, and that's a big step for an organisation of that size.

    What were they using before?
