Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was in a Paddy Powers last night when a well dressed middle aged man came in and tried to put 5k on Ronald Koeman to be the next newcastle manager. They'd only let him have 2k on, the price has since been cut to 4/1, he was around 25/1 before that.

It might be nothing but this guy seemed fairly sure, he was fairly aggressive trying to get the bet on and didn't look the gambling sort.

Ha, weird. The whole England manager merry-go-round is a nice smoke-screen for Newcastle, the media have practically forgotten that they have a vacant manager's position. They have to fill it soon too, isn't it something like the end of April when Roeder has to step down?

heard weeks ago that George Graham could be a dark horse

I heard a "friend of a friend says" type rumour a while back saying it would be Mark Hughes - managed to get some money on him at 50s but to be honest I don't really have a clue which way this one will go...

re ^^^ comments: my girlfriend works in paddy power. a fella came in the other day and put €5000 on a horse, left and came back and put another €2000 on the same horse. and its still running!!! so the value of bets is meaningless imo.

she also told me that about 4 weeks ago a fella put €1000 on el tel venables for the newcastle manager, prompting my gf to put €25 on it. foolish girl imo

managerial bets are the only bets i stay well away from. all these supposed "leaks of information" is just a way of the bookies to make money

I checked odds on betfair earlier when I read this thread. Koeman was then at 9.8 but only a few hours later he's now at 12s. The prediction I was given, Mark Hughes was at ~30s and is now out to 40 in a very short space of time.

Interestingly Chris Coleman has plummeted to 7.6 - I don't remember him being on anything like short odds before now...

    <edit>

And Coleman is back to 11s almost immediately - this is shifting as fast as an in-play horse race... (not really)

Then you have to check out this in the soccer access requests forum.

If I have an inkling anyone is going to get it, I feel it'll be Houllier, in a similar role that he had initially at Anfield with Roy Evans except with Roeder as his number 2

my mate is a newcastle fanatic and know his stuff. he informs me the next manager of newcastle will be:

    TOMMY CRAIG

and Roeder, becuase he hasn't got the badges, will be director of football. he'll be the first director of football to stand in the dugout!!!

now remember where ya hears THAT first

What's Roeder doing now and previously at West Ham if he doesn't have the badges?

As for GH getting it in a partnership???

when he was at West ham ya didnt need badges. Now, he is only allowed take charge for 2 months i think then after that they had to appoint a new manager. but the FA bent the rules slightly.

the club successfully appealed to the FA for an extension until the end of the season - citing the ongoing uncertainty over the FA's appointment of a new England boss as a mitigating factor.

Maybe he was just doubling-up on 2.5k he lost on a bet for "Brian Kerr for Portsmouth manager" that was doing the rounds a while back. What an idea! lol
