Does anyone know what happens if a tradesman quotes for and starts a job but then doesn't complete it resulting in the customer incurring higher than budgeted costs to get someone else to complete it? Is the original tradesman due any money for the work he did and is he liable for the extra costs in any way? Theres a lot of money involved. Thanks.

Ok,let me get this straight, the tradesman started the job and hasnt been paid so far for any work he has done to the point were he left the job?

If he quoted a price and started it then hasnt got paid for anything, then its his loss because job wasnt completed as agreed.

If you haven't paid the first guy and he has some of the work done I dont see how its going to cost more to get the job completed. Unless of course you intend to pay both tradesmen

    Hi,

It might be better to cosult with an Architect or if there is legal action pending you might suggest arbitration, really there's not enough information in your post to give a straight answer.
