Was thinking of geting my 1.8t gti chipped. Probably gona go with the upsolute chip which increases performance by about 40hp.

Was just wondering if anyone knows what kinda insurance increases i can expect.

    Any feedback much appreciated
    cheers

A simple remap of a 1.8t will not get you 40 hp on 95 ron. Don't bother reporting it to your insurance company as it's not noticable unless you put it on a dyno or check it with a vag-com.

donot bother reporting it,make sure whoever you get it done from that its not noticable.

Ye your probably right about not reporting it. Was thinking if it wasnt much of an increase on insurnce to report it anywat, just to be safe.

You sure you cant get that sort of increase in hp. Says on the upsolute site they can get this car up to 192 hp

yeah jut call the insurance company and see what they say, donot tell them you have it done to the car until they give you a quote:D

I doubt any remap on any car will get an increase of 40hp.

If you don't tell the insurance co. and then have an accident, particularly if speed is a factor, be prepared for them not to pay out.

For a fraction of a second perhaps. The intake temperature will soar and the 95 ron fuel will limit the performance. 192 is what you can expect from 99 ron fuel...

incorrect, a remap of the later 1.8ts generally yields 195-215bhp

What id like to know is how an insurance company in the event of a crash is going to know you have had a remap done? Take it to the nearest Quinn Direct/ Hibernian rolling road ?

The only way they could find out is either the RR or getting the car hooked up to a machine to see the remap. Remember there are no chips or modules etc involved.

As cyrus mentioned there is upto 200bhp to be had from the 150bhp 20v Vag engine through a remap on 95ron fuel.
