    Cavy Care Boarding

Based near Thurles Co Tipperary less than one hour from Kilkenny, Portlaoise and 5 miles from Urlingford which is right on the main Dub/Cork road.
We offer a home from home for your guinea pig(s) while you are away.
Guinea pigs are offered all the essentials to keep them happy, contented and most importantly relaxed.
Plus extra cuddles and if you wish a lovely relaxing bath(extra charge applies) oil soak or massage.

Depending on the number of guinea pigs, the sex of the guinea pigs, their size, general personalities and what they are used to at home with you, we have a number of boarding options.

Indoor: In our home, housed in large indoor cages with access to large, sheltered, secure outdoor runs during the day in fine weather. Or if you wish to have them indoors during the day that's fine also.

Sheds: In large pens in sheds with access to large, sheltered, secure outdoor runs in fine weather.

Outdoors: In large, sheltered, secure outdoor runs during the day with hutches placed inside them.

    Bedding:

Our standard bedding consists of layers of newspaper, vet bed on top and then topped with enough hay for your pet to bury themselves in.

As an alternative we can supply a layer of newspaper topped with Care Fresh bedding and hay, this incurs and extra charge.

    Food:

We feed our all guinea pigs on Burgess Supa guinea pig food, if your pet is used to another brand please contact us to make sure we can provide it, if not you are welcome to bring their food with you. Changing their diet suddenly can result in upset tums

    Fresh veg/fruit:

All guinea pigs are supplied with fresh fruit and/or veg daily.
Every day is different; some of the fruits and veg we feed are carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, apple, grapes, tomatoes and peppers.
When available we choose organic fruits and vegetables.
When guinea pigs are in outdoors runs they also have access to fresh green grass.
Please let us know your guinea pigs favourite types of fruit and veg and whether they are used to grass on a regular basis.

    Water:

Water is constantly supplied through drip feed water bottles, it is changed twice a day morning and evening and more often in very warm weather.

    Hay:

Hay is freely available for your pets to eat and hide in.
Burgess Supa Forage Excel (dried grass) is also on offer when available.

    Toys:

We supply all guinea pigs with a place to hide e.g. boxes, cocoons, large tubes/tunnels, grassy hutches and chew toys.
You are welcome to bring any of your pets favourite toys.

    Cleaning:

Your guinea pig(s) will have their housing cleaned thoroughly once daily.
We use a small pet safe disinfectant and white vinegar for their water bottles and food dishes.
