MediaRing launches WiMAX services in Cambodia

Singapore-listed VoIP service provider MediaRing has launched a WiMAX-based ISP service AngkorNet, covering 90 percent of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. ISP AngkorNet is the registered brand of Cambodia Data Communication (CDC), a 60/40 joint venture between Cambodia's Anana Computer and MediaRing. CDC is a wholesale telecommunications carrier with one of only a handful of companies with ISP licences in the country. MediaRing CEO Khaw Kheng Joo cited Cambodia's relatively low telecom penetration rate, national population of around 15 million and limited number of ISPs.
