I'm looking for a good set of XC wheels and a rear brake booster for an older Trek Ally frame. Anyone give me a recommendation for wheel packages? I need built wheels (light please) with an 8spd Shimano cartridge for the back. Or maybe someone has something suitable laying about that they want rid of? Cheers, Gil

Mavic Crosslands are pretty higly regarded:

You could also get some XT hubs built up with perhaps 317 rims.

8 and 9 speed cassettes are the same width so that won't be a problem.

If you're looking to go super-lightweight I know a guy selling some, not sure if they're sold yet
