Had a number of piercings throughout the hears. Back in the day I had the standard ear and eyebrow and they were both fine. A few years ago I had my tragus done and andother one higher on the ear after the tragus. Neither healed properly and developed keloids and I ended up taking them out in the end. Tried again with the opposite tragus and had the same effect. Then I had my nipple pierced and yet again it didn't heal and developed a keloid and when I took it out it healed but with scarring.
I made sure I cleaned it properly and always did my best not to irritate the area pierced. So do I just have an immune system that rejects piercings? Is there any point in getting anything pierced again or will I just respond the same way? Any advice appreciated.

you seem to be like me,the only things i have pierced are my tongue and ears..i pierced my ears myself (when i was 14) and ended getting a keloid that i had to get surgically removed..
My tongue is fine and fully healed (a year now) but i still have a slight lump on the underside...I'd love to get a monroe or labret done but given my past history,i just think that i have sensitive skin and am prone to scarring.Whereas with tattoos i'm totally fine.

Cheers for that info bedlam, I thought all those lumps were keloids and presumed that if I didn't remove the piercing that I would end up with the lump there permanently, like my sisters keloids. Would gold jewellery be an option as my body may be less likely to reject that?

Had titanium in the upper part of the ear. Maybe I'll go for the tragus again and get titanium. What woyuld be the best to get, a bar or ring? I prefer the bat but maybe the ring might heal better.

Bars heal better, is it not? I know I have a titanium bar in my tragus and it's healed fine. It's only been done a short while as well.

yeah, bars heal a lot better. obviously the amount of care your gonna but into it is gonna be a huge factor, but I've always found bars heal better.
When I first got a trague piercing I got it done with a ring, when I got my second, I got it done with a bar, cos I was after changing the ring to the bar and I wanted it matching, anyways got a short story shorter, the bar healed a hell of a lot quicker.
