West Ham won't play a second string team, not achance.
They might rest some key players, but why should they? They have a week off before the game.
A win could bring them above bolton, an extra 500,000 grand.
A loss could lose them a million!

    That's a lot of money

I think if its a "choice" they'd sooner have a better shot at Cup Glory than an extra half million.

The UEFA Cup champions get automatic qualification into the UEFA Cup, as holders.

PHB always gets his figures wrong like that. Just say £500,000 or 500 grand, not hard?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I dont know, let me think.

I could double check everything I write

or I could assume that people aren't stupid enough to think that I meant 500,000 grand, which would be 500,000,000 a place in the premirship.

What to do what to do...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,915 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

But you always do it, so its not a case of double checking, but a case of learning how to do it properly in the first place. It just makes your posts sound stupid.

interesting fact i read today on the sky sports website. "if the league had started in october, liverpool would be champions". good sign for the future :p

i can see united dropping points tomorrow, its possible, charlton are one of those annoying teams. hopefully liverpool can take advantage if united slip up

charlton are usually bankers to roll over on the last day of the season tbh but with it being curbishley's last game i can see them giving utd a real go

if the league started in october, then wed still have about 10 games left to play.
i fail to see how liverpool could be champions with 10 games left.

Don't be such a pedant. It illustrates that were it not for Chelsea's strong start, the league wouldn't have been one-sided as it appears. The fact is that since then, both Man Utd and Liverpool have pretty much matched them, and that the gap in quality between the sides may not be as extensive as the table suggests.

and there was me thinking the league was decided over 36 matches and not just two thirds of a season.

well, in that case, if you take the 3 games in novemeber, spurs have wont he league.

    go team statistics!

38 games Eammo, otherwise a good point. Chelsea could just as easily say if it wasn't for Liverpool/ManYoo's good form in the latter part of the season, they'd have won at a canter. Swings/roundabouts/goose/gander/etc etc...

Spurs missing our best CB (King), one of our best CM (Jenas), and potentially our best CM (Carrick) and best CF (Keane). Mido, Tainio, and Stalteri also doubtful. And West Ham have an injury headache??? ;)

Tough game at the Bingo Club, I'll settle for a scrappy 1-0, the winner going in off Danny Murphy's arse in the 93rd minute.

stupidest post ever! how can it be a fact? So it's a scientific fact is it, proved by sceintists no doubt...the ones in white jackets and it's not just based on form? The outcome would have being the same, the best time won the league....that's science.

Wham-Spurs game in doubt after several Spurs some down with food poisoning? Looks like its not just the fans who are sh*tting themselves!!! :D

Wenger will go nuts if its called off...

So what, it's pointless to analyse form for any period other than the entire season? For me, it says a lot that Chelsea were unable to put further distance between themselves and their rivals outside the first handful of games. I'm not disputing that, overall, Chelsea were the better team, but the fact that they couldn't pull away once the other teams hit form offers hope for next season.

    bbc says
Spurs' crucial game at West Ham is in doubt after several of their players went down with food poisoning.

Martin Jol's side will clinch the fourth Champions League place if they win at Upton Park, although Arsenal are also still in contention.

Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson said officials are on their way to the Spurs team hotel, but that the game was still currently scheduled to go ahead.

There is expected to be a further update on the situation 1300 BST.

Me neither, there was that game years ago Boro called off because they couldn't get a squad together because of injuries and they were docked points for it. I have no idea what they'll do because of food poisoning. If they were docked points or West Ham were awarded a victory it'd be a pretty sad way for Spurs to miss out on the champions league (assuming Arsenal can get at least a draw). However I'm an Arsenal fan so I'd be over the moon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,625 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

No way they can call it off.
If Spurs game is called off, then the Arsenal game would have to be called off as well because they all have to be played at the same time on the same day. Even if Spurs have no players and only youth players they would have to play.
Wonder if the cook is an ARSENAL supporter :p

do we actually know who is sick or not?

i mean if its burch and jackson and bunji, then thats ok

if its out entire front line and midfield, then im gonna be annoyed.

but, thats football. i dont like it, but the game had to go ahead.

Let's just hope enough youth team travelled to bring up the numbers.

Don't forget, Spurs won their reserve league and only lost to United in the reserves league final.
They have a good bunch of kids and players behind them, and they aren't as ****ed as people make out.

Keane, Mido and Carrick have been mentioned as likely to miss. I'll be gutted
for Spurs if they loose this one.

Just seen this listed on 606 message boards

    Paul Robinson
    Michael Dawson
    Stephen Kelly
    Danny Murphy
    Calum Davenport
    Lee Barnard
    Aaron Lennon

    Takes your choice.
