Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just goes to show what a farce of a decision it was for Sky to show ManYoo against a Charlton side with f*ck all to play for. Thank you RTE!

So who should Sky have shown instead?

West Ham v Spurs I presume. Although West Ham have as much to play for as Charlton.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,049 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

If that had of been the case RTE would not have been able to show it.

The battle for 4th. Both Arsenal and Spurs. First 45 mins says that alone. West Ham were never gonna roll over against Spurs, and the Goons last game at the Library were always going to be better than ManYoo-Charlton, for drama if not quality of football.

watching spurs west ham atm on satellite and its a cracker :)
Am a spurs fan so slightly biased, its all very exciting at the moment

But they could have shown ManYoo or Liverpool, either of which they'd be delighted to do.

eh, so what? :) therecklessone is just saying Sky made the wrong choice.

Yeh, but the excitment coulda just as easily been in the other matches. Hindsight is a lovely thing, tbh I like what they are doing, showing both sets of games on different channels.

Are they showing the highlights from the Arsenal game as they come?

I would imagine that RTE are happy enough with the game they got. The battle for the forth CL spot. Also with the run of bad form Man U have been on there was the possibility of a slip up at OT.

Yeah, its all setup for the second half, but its a bit of a strain on the old heart alright.

I may have to kill Yossi Benayoun for missing those 2 chances...

Xabi Alonso off with whats described a a broken ankle!

Spurs should be ahead! Poor start but they've got back in it. Charlton really are crap by the end of the season are'nt they?

    Mike.

    As PHB has just said
    Hindsight is a lovely thing

Sky are no different to any other Channels and they know Man U will attract the highest viewing figures. Thats why ManU are on Sky Sport1 and Arsenal on SP3.

Jaysus lads, did anyone really believe that Utd would lose to Charlton at OT today? From a neutral POV, the 4th place race has far more going for it.

Doesn't bother me TBH, I still get to see the game, just think objectively speaking it was a bad decision.

    AS IT STANDS
    # Race for second: Manchester United look to have wrapped this up and Liverppol will have to be content with third.
    # Race for fourth: Tottenham are holding on to that Champions League qualification spot ahead of great rivals Arsenal but need to score another to be sure of it.
    # Race for seventh: Okay, it may not be sexy but it does get you into the Intertoto Cup. That honour is going Newcastle's way at the moment.

Say there's plenty more international managers sweating on the next 45 minutes.

Got my first grey hairs a while back (after Spurs-Blackburn in March...;) ), but I'll be bald as well if this keeps up...:D

That sucks balls. Was really looking forward to watching spain. Thought they might actually do well, what with thwe extra bit of grit from having a couple of english based players.

Xabi went down under his own power, it sounds like he turned and got caught in the turf, so it should be a twist/strain at most hopefully. Still won't play next week prolly.

    Mike.

Scholes is on for Man U for the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Xabi looks definally out for next week, and possible for the World Cup.
What a horrible time to get injured :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 186 ✭✭futuredeath

as a liverpool fan i'd much rather see him fit for the world cup than the fa cup,
will be absolutely gutted if he misses it.
