Oh yeah vga is best for that as well. I intend on getting a switch box. It takes 2 vga's and outputs one. You just press a button to switch from source to source. I think its called a 2 port KVM switch. I was hoping to use component for the 360 and vga for the pc but there's no denying the better picture with the 360 is the vga so I'll use the vga slot for both

I have a dual dvi graphics card and I use a normal vga cable and one of those dvi->vga adaptors that comes with a lot of cards. My card has a graphic setting on 1360x768 and I use that resolution. Crystal clear

I think no store/company has a policy for returns on dead pixels, unless there are LOTS of them on screen, its kind-of-normal for LCD screens.. But the Hyundais have been fine so far.

And I don't think you need to specify you want HDMI as most staff probably wont have a clue and AFAIK all models from here on in are HDMI enabled.

    :)

    Hey,
I realise this is already a long and winding thread but I just wanted to add my 2 cents as I read about this deal here in the first place.

I walked into XtraVision on Baggot St where they have a room to view their TVs (and a selection of specials to boot). The TV looked great and for the price you cannot beat it as far as I know. I asked, they had it in stock, they gave me a huge roll of €2 vouchers (so much for the €50, instead I need to rent 25 DVDs between now and Nov to get my €50 worth, which is very unlikely.)

So: I got it home (really very light and easy to move around).

It supports my MacMini into the VGA input, my NTL box into the Full SCART, my xBox into the half-scart (view a small convertor switch) and my DVD player into the video inputs. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the connections. I used to convert my DVI signal to a composite one with a
small dongle for the Mac Mini but now the quality is incredible with the direct VGA connection (I can watch full screen streaming TV from www.abc.net.au and it looks like a regular digital TV channel (except for the odd bit of packet loss!)).

The PIP and split screen is very handy for watching a weather/screen-show stream off the web or a Mac App while watching news or ads. Although I have to say that I have noticed the "black" issue people mentioned.

The only downside is that I thought it would look bigger (yes I know not a real complaint) but after seeing things like the 42" screen in Clerys I guess
my expectations for my new fancy LCD were a little errr unrealistic. None the less, it's a really good deal and sounds/looks great.

If you have a really big room I would suggest cutting out a bit of cardboard
and sticking it where the TV will go to ensure it's really big enough or
not too big before deciding on the size you might need/afford.

    Aaron.

The VGA cable is the best to use with the 360 and this particular set. The component has a very dark colour to it and its not as sharp

How do you get around the problem that the VGA cable does not carry sound? (I’m very close to buying this)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

The vga cable has a red and white sound wires attached to it. These plug in right beside the vga slot on this set

I picked up mine tonight too. I've got it working, but I've yet to tweak settings and stuff and only have Sky attached so far. It's looking good :D

Just one thing missing for now. I can't seem to find a code to get a Sky remote to work with it. It's not in the Sky manual or interactive help and it's not on a list on Digital Spy. I tried both Hyundai and Vvuon. Anyone else get a Sky remote working with it?

This might help - it helped me when I was configuring a remote that came with my Home cinema package that could control me TV:

Cant see how they could justify the price increase unless of course they stopped selling them for a while and then relaunched them.

But with the way LCD prices have come down, I can see them getting cheaper if anything. Come september they will be after the Christmas market and most of the main stream manufactors will start to roll out their offers for the Winter.

It would be quite easy. This is a special offer. When the special offer is over, the price would revert to the normal, higher price. It's not really a price increase. Just reverting to the normal price after being on offer at a cheaper price for a while. Wouldn't be much of a special offer if the price was the normal price, would it? ;)

GStormcrow did you get that 2 port kvm switch and where did you get it, im looking to get one

    Komplett have them in abundance.
Also if your in Dublin check out www.marxcomputers.ie. Under monitors/kvm they also have one for €60. Its a 4 port one.
It comes with connections for keyboard and mice also but it doesnt mean you have to connect them up for the video to work.
Essentially allows you to have one video output (your tv) for multiple devices (xbox360, pc1, pc2 etc etc)

Oh yea I got a VGA cable in HMV in Blanch today for 25quid. Its not the official xbox360 one which was 33quid. it also has on optical output for audio. Im not sure if the official one has that

    HTH

Watch prices tumble on LCD tv's

Prices from the far east have dropped below $300 per 30" TV based on container loads for September delivery. Based on this expect a retail price after shipping, duties, VAt & profit of around €699 from october for the average brand and €799 for the sonys & phillips types.

Just fitted mine on the wall - looks great! So, have a stand if anyone wants it let me know.

    Hi,

I got one of these tellys but was away for the lst 4 weeks after buying it. The NTL signal was coming through crap on it when I finally got to watch it so I got NTL out. He went through and said the tuner is busted (Was trying to tune in TV3 for example at 181 when it should be 184).

Signal is crap so he said bring it back. Will I have to drop this to Xtravsion or would Hyundai take it to sort it out ?

Dont want to be without a telly for a couple of weeks though !!

They're the hdmi model too, according to a bloke working there.

Just got mine on Sat - anyone have any ideas on how run a full range of tests, for dead pixels etc? I've had a close look and there doesn't seem to be any dead pixels, but my dvd player doesn't have a test card built in.

Sorry to thread hijack slightly but got a Philips HDMI 32" Flatscreen in PowerCity yesterday for €939. Had to bargin him down from €950. Harvey Norman are doing the same but won't budge off that price. The model is 32PF5321. Does the job!

Edit: Here's the linky for the spec

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭fdevine

€950 seems like a great price for that Philips set.

Among other things its got 2 HDMI sockets and multiple PIP setting, including mosaic.....

    Im very tempted.
