Replacing speaker wire, advice needed

    Hi there,
    I have a cheap Sony DAV-DZ100 dvd / surround sound amp combi which came with speaker wires for all the satellites.
    However I'm replacing the carpet in my living room with hardwood flooring so I want to run the speaker wires around the perimeter of the room and hide them in the walls to finish the job properly.
    Anyway the supplied wires arent long enough so I was wondering if there is anything specific I should be looking for or will I just get a 50m roll of a decent gauge from ebay and belt away?
