A number of Irish broadband operators including Smart Telecom and Digiweb have expressed an interest in buying rival company Ildana out of liquidation.

Ildana, a Meath internet service provider, went bust last month after a trade sale to Pure Telecom collapsed leading to a court dispute between the two sides. Ildana had been approved to provide internet services to 30 rural communities under the government’s group broadband scheme.

The firm’s liquidator, Dublin accountant Neil Hughes, plans to sell the company as a going concern and has been in discussion with a number of interested parties.
