If I was to set up a metal band I'd want it to have a good name however I'm having trouble deciding. From this list of names below please pick out about 3/4/5 names you like the best.
    Thanks, this will really help.

    Beginning of Sorrow
    Bloodchurn
    Brood of Hatred
    Deceit
    Depths of Depravity
    Devoid of Truth
    Funeral Inception
    Habitual Infamy
    Immortally Condemned
    Involuntary Slaughter
    Liege of Inveracit
    Mass Obliteration
    Ornaments of Decrepancy
    Pierced from Within
    Prelude to Repulsion
    Seeds of the Suffering
    Souls to Deny
    Subconsciously Enslaved
    Suspended in Tribulation
    Thrones of Blood
    To Weep Once More

Try 'Gorgasm'. Short and snappy, very metal :)

They're all very predictable. You really need to get more original.

I think they are all far better than a lot of band names you hear these days.
Please pick out the ones you like.

You should come up with an original name. They are all names of songs by the band suffocation.

Bands always use song titles as their name.

Band use book titles, movie titles etc. so whats wrong with using a song title?

I can't say any of them are leaping out at me. Not trying to be nasty, but they're all pretty clichéd and forgettable.

There's a good chance people will assume you're a cover band.

Too true. I looked at most of those suggestions and figured you were a Suffocation tribute.

Most of those names seem to be follow a format, grim second word and first word for dark exaggeration Mass Obliteration

Just jumble them up and you'll get something, for example, keeping Obliteration and taking randomly from the list here

    Depths of Obliteration
    Involuntary Obliteration
    Ornaments of Obliteration
    Prelude to Obliteration
    Seeds of Obliteration

    Howabout Tribulation?

    Depths of Tribulation
    Involuntary Tribulation
    Ornaments of Tribulation
    Prelude to Tribulation
    Seeds of Tribulation
    Beginning of Tribulation
    Habitual Tribulation
    Liege of Tribulation
    MassTribulation

    etc etc etc ;)

yeah but most people dont choose a specific band to take their name from, and set out to do so. it should be the case of just heaing the song title and thinking "thatd be great as a band name!"

Like when i was watching Dirty Harry: Magnum Force with the legendary Clint Eastwood for the tenth or so time, and thought, "yeah, thatd make a damn good band name!" and it does!

I was actually in a band called 'Morgue-Asm' for about a week back in the late 80's. it was cheesy back then too :p

Are all these band names not succumbing to stereotype...?

Why not introduce a surprise factor to a heavy metal band name...?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭pbsuxok1znja4r

Heh metal band names. The cheesiest of cheeses.

This is probably a name already, but my friend suggested the name "Carnivwhore" or something similar. I thought that was pretty funny.
Also you can have this name I made up: "Critical Mass". It works on many levels. Well, just two actually; nuclear and secular, if you take my meaning. :)

Myself and a couple of fellow engineering students once, in the spirit of names like Motorhead and Machinehead, considered naming ourselves "Engine Ears"...Geddit? :p
