Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Walcott going to the world cup?

Rumours this afternoon suggest theo walcott, who hasnt played a game for arsenal since his big money move, may be called up as one of 4 back up players to englands world cup squad. If i was an bent, harewood, ashton, zamora, fowler etc and didnt get called up but walcott does i would be pretty pi$$ed. what do you think?

Great post and I must say I agreed with most of it but if I were Beatie or Bent I may argue your statement

"that I don't really see the point of bringing someone like Beattie or Bent, who probably doesn't have much of a future in the international setup and will most likely just be sitting on the bench or in the stands."

On what plausible reason is Sven picking Walcott over three established Premiership forwards, apart from taking a back hander from Rupert Lowe for a cut of the clause in his Arsenal transfer.

The fact he looks good in training or can do 100 meters in sub 10 seconds.(both not good enough)

To maximize the performance of England hopefuls over a season we should surely have a carrot of performing well over a season gets you in the England squad, verses others who have not performed at that level or have just not performed. We should at least put the Premierships highest English goal score above a 17 old kid and a good player in a bad league (AJ).
