    :D

I dont care who has the best performance. I want the best bang for buck chip.

But in saying that, look what the $150 Celeron Ms are doing, 1M super PI in 15 seconds on air:eek:

Damn Intel and their low prices and new processers:D

    I hope you're keeping the 146 rig :)

Noone should switch to a Pentium 4 no matter how overclockable or cheap it is.

This is the Pentium 4's last stand and Intel are just getting rid of stock.

A 4ghz P4 still gets whooped by overclocked Athlon 64s.....

    So, Everyone, together.

"I pledge allegiance to Advanced Micro devices......"

    :D

As true as this is the P4 will destroy the AMDs in video encoding.. Thats the only reason i want one of these... For general use, gaming n photo editing AMD have it well sorted....

Anyone who is into gaming or fast media cept video encoding will go for an amd, Big corporations who want money will go for a pentium theyre cheaper for a reason ;)

Big corporations who want money will go for a pentium theyre cheaper for a reason

Ahh, Intel are alot more expensive than AMD

Thats one of the main reasons people use AMD bang for buck

    AMD Prices / Intel Prices

The only competitively priced P4 is the 805, and it runs like a dog at stock 2.6ghz with a 133mhz fsb....

I'm very confused about Intel and the vast nunber of chips and the numbering system?

Like which is best?, the 90nm chips or the newer 65nm?...any guides available to recent Intel chips?

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    Who cares?

They all suck except for the overclocked 805:D

There hot they're noisey, they're expensive, they're ineffecient and their gaming perfromances is crap.

And 65nm is better and cooler.

If you want intel, wait for Conroe or buy a Pentium M/core duo and overclock it

I think that some of their "Cedar Mill" single core 65nm chips have been breaking 5Ghz on air...

Saw a few pics, some lad had a Scythe ninja / tuniq tower / some similar tower heatsink with 4 120 mm fans and the chip was doing over 5Ghz.

Well if anyone is taking the plunge and needs ddr2 ram, I have two 256mb sticks of samsung pc4200 ddr2 literally taking up space....just in case anyone has anything interesting to offer! :D

I upgraded my ram a few days ago with 2x512mb but the original configuration was 4x256mb sticks...so two sticks with no home.

    256mb sticks annoy me...:p

    Any benches?

Im sure a Athlon 64 @ 2.8-3ghz would be better for gaming, and cheaper

How does this perform at stock? In comparison to a 3ghz p4, or an amd 64 3400+

I have the feeling that the point of this thread is starting to be missed.

it isn't a slugfest about which is better AMD or Intel, because that discussion will never end (plus the statement of the end of intel, is just a stupid as the end of Microsoft)

the fact is, that Intel has pulled back the Overclocking record to themselves.

and also that people can get an amazingly powerful processor (once Oc'ed of course) for a budget price.

you have to see that the 805, when it's clocked properly is competing not with the same priceclass chips, but with the elite, with cost 9 times the price.

performance per watt should be the metric.

Yea, im with you on that one! Consumption is getting out of hand.

[OT]Has anyone seen AMD marketing for opterons regarding reduced energy costs etc etc? [/OT]
