Does anyone know how much a Merc (or any other capable garage) Charge to hook up a car a do a diagnostic to check a problem?

The missus A class has a light on the dash that indcates an electrical issue. Also when you rev it it misses a bt, ie the revs pick up, drop out and pick up again. At a gues I'm reckoning a fuel injection issue or a piston timing maybe (?) but need to get it checked. Also uf anyone can reccommend somewhere. cheers.

I can recommend a good mechanic in Sallins who specialises in all German makes....he has a lot of diagnostic equipment at his garage. PM me for details.

Cheers. dont think I'd make it down there. The car is up for sale and I have someone coming to look at it on Saturday. Any Idea how much to get him to hook it up for a diagnosis?

AFAIK main stealers can charge around 70 euros  just to hook a car up to a computer and run some diagnositics. That's before they even attempt to fix anything.

I assume that includes pinpointing the problem? If so then thats not too bad considerign what I had floatign round in my head. I had visions of them saying "right that'll be €300 please, then being hit for teh price of a part (and labour to fit it).

I've details of a garage who may be able to help you in Dublin City. PM me if you want them - it could be a coil pack. I don't know much about A class but I've seen a couple of C class with coil packs gone - similar symptoms to yours.
