    UCD has always been my first choice even when I was living in England cod my sister and brother bothe went here. Whenever I use to visit I always though it was the coolest campus ever.....and it is! Living on campus for two years I discovered loasda gorgeous nature areas and even built a tree house,that is infact still standing(but its my contemplation spot so I cant tell ya where it is;) )
    I always felt sorry for those cramped up in trinity in the smog and the smoke. Loadsa my mates went to UCC and nui Galways and even though they all had a great student life I still think mine tops them all...the student bar is always great to meet people from all walks of like,from culchy gaa players to Ross O'Carrol kelly,from a californian intellectuals to miss world...You cant beat UCD for variety...and vaeity is the spice of life after all:)

    I had UCD down as my first choice, despite the fact I spend an hour and a half each day getting there.

    I find the people are in general good, the societes and social life are great (despite the fact I can't get to most of them, as I live an hour and a half from UCD).

    I've gotten involved with some of the societies and next year I intend to get involved with more. Maybe one of the newspapers....

    Forgot to mention in my first post, UCD was my first choice (first 3 choices actually), and the only college I wanted to go to. Still is, tbh! Just gotta get crackin on it.

    Im think the UCD campus is great in summer. Very green and leafy, and in the winter, its exactly the same as trinity, Grey. Stone in trinity and concrete in ucd aren't all that different in bad weather. Despite the fact that ucd is a commercial wind tunnel ALL YEAR ROUND. :eek: <that's me being blowen away.

    I think what adds alot to people's ill feeling about UCD is it's administration.

    For example;
    My flatmate is going to Minnesota next year. His department have been promising and orientation/introduction meeting for the last 2 months. He still hasn't had the meeting. He's meant to be booking flights, gettin a visa organised. They told him last thursday that he had to have €6000 in a bank account by monday, otherwise his visa application would be delayed 3 weeks. So that was 2 working days to mobilise €6000!

    Another shocking example. A friend of mine failed marketing and finance at christmas. He sat his business logistics exam and got a 2:1. He went into admin and explained what he had to register for. He paid €63, and was informed last wednesday, that he would have to sit the business logistics exam AGAIN on mon 15th!"!! :eek: This happened because the fee he paid, 63, was only to repeat all exams, he should have paid €193 to sit 2 exams. He was never told this, and because of their mistake he now has to sit an exam he already has a mark for!! He's been to everyone who should be there to help him in our faculty, but they've all told him 'rules are rules'. BULL****!

    Exam results - we we're about half way through feburary by the time we got ours!

    Lack of communication between students and faculty - The faculty tried to pull the proverbial rug from under its students in b+l, by radically overhauling the fundamental structure of the course, we'd all signed up to take. E.g. a choice to specialise in law or business in our final year, WITHOUT TELLING US! Only upon voicing of mass student disgruntlement did we get the situation resolved.

    Im fairly happy with UCD as a campus and a university, but i can understand why it's running procedures lead to lot of ill-feeling from it's students.

    I'm still waiting on exam results for exams I sat before Christmas. Was never told when they'd be available and they were all finals.

    i hate my course, frequently i think of how things could have so much more different if i did a bit more work for the LC (got some C's, should have been B's, gots some B's should have been...etc). I curse the day i choose the course i did without putting too much thought into it. I've wasted a year of my life and my free degree.

    So fcuk you, I'll hate ucd if i want to

    I adore this college. (I'd want to, I usually spend 10+ hours a day here).

    If I complain, it's because I want to see ucd be the best that it can be. In my defence, at least I don't complain and do nothing.
