    Hi!
I'm italian and i have planed to come to ireland on the end of may!
i'm coming to learn english (as you see)
but i have to decide in which city!
    i choose galway by now!
i think it's a beautiful city and they told me there are a lot of jugglers!
but i'm trying to recover as much info's as possible!
so i thought to ask to people living there!
    is there a good nightlife?
is it a city of students?

i hope not to be off topic!
    if so, excuse me! :o

    thanks for your answers! :D

Just spent a week in Italy .. :) GREAT place for a visit :)

Anyways ... galway during the summer is pretty cool ...
Most students will be gone by the end of may to mid june ?? .. and then we start to get lotst of foreign students here to learn english ...

the nightlife here is pretty good .. I don't really partake in it much anymore ... but I think theres something for most people here ...

July there'll be the Arts festival and project 06 so towards the end of july its bound to be buzzing

Apart from that there'll be the galway races which is worth doing at least once ...

i'm very happy that you liked italy!
i loved ireland when i came there few years ago!
so i decide i have had to spend more time there!

thank you for the link, it seems a very good festival!:)

do you think it's hard to get a job in galway?
In the city where i studied (bologna: do you know?)
it was hard to get a job cause there were too many students!
and it is a big city! (well.. quite big..)

thanks for all informations you told me!
    they are all precious!

I think ... one of the problems with arriving at the end of may is a lot of the jobs will be gone ? (just not trying to get your hopes up) ... I'm assuming you're looking for casual summer work / shop / bar / whatever ... ?

I don't know Bologna ... I did pass through on the train from Venezia to Firenze .. but thats about it so many great cities to see so little time .. :) maybe next time ..

A friend told me the same.. :(
he said everyone stops to study for summer and so they
    look for a seasonal job..
I think it will be hard...
and for more (? does it exist??) I have problems with
language! (can you believe it? ;) )
well, if so i will have to change my programs!
ok, so just one question more!

    what about accomodation?
    where could i find announcement?
in bologna we have some central streets where people put them!
in spain they put in telephone boxes!
    in galway?

    thanks! thanks!

Ok, i found a lot of informations about accomodation!
    I found this site http://www.nuigalway.ie
where there are a lot of opportunities!
but i saw they continuously indicate the zone where they are in the city!
I only can imagine where city center is..
but i have no idea about Newcastle, Salthill, Knocknacarra, etc..
I am attracted by Merlin!!! (It sounds magic! :) )
Otherwise Terryland! (i don't know why...)
    Which are the best ones?

ok you're going to want to be around the city center ... This means Terryland ... merlin is out a fair bit ... not really walking distance from the city center ...
Salthill is out a bit as well ... Knocknacarra is out a long way as well ...

If you're talking cheapish accommodation .. then you'll be looking for a room in Newcastle .. Tirillen / Castlelawn ... the usual situation in ireland is you'll end up sharing a house with 3 or so other people ... getting an appartment for yourself is a bit too pricey ...

How long are you intending on staying for? If you are only staying for a few weeks, perhaps the hostels around galway would be suited to you?

Sleepzone.ie. It is very close to town.

There are alot of foreign students around Galway. I work with a load of these people, and all of them are learning english too. They tell me that there are good teachers around.

You've picked a good time to come to Galway. Especially now that Eyre Square is finished. And there are so many activities and sights to see around.

No offense, but I'd advise coming out to Merlin. Its about a 30-40 minute walk from town, and the buses going and coming are unrealiable to say the least.

Nice to hear u've been to monza and enjoyed it. wife and i visited monza but did not have good seats tickets (on grass, prato) and tried to watch the pole position on the saturday. we then decided to watch the race on big screen in the main square of the city of monza. that race was a ferrari 1, 2, m. shumacher and ervine. I cant say it was the same in barcelona last week. i had a very good seat and could follow the race in comfort. i also met a very nice irish guy at the same hotel and spent a lot of time chatting, dining and socializing with him. from malta we use ferry boats that cross over to sicily or italy for motoring holidays on the continent and italy happens to be one of our favourite destinations. my wife and i are planning to visit ireland with our motor home in june next year and hopefully we will have a look at galway.
