 The hogfather is being made into a film and should be out by christmas. David Jason will be playing the part of Albert and Ian Richardson will be doing the voice of death.

Is this going to be a live-action or animated film?

I hope it'll be animated/claymation.. somewhat like "The Nightmare before Christmas"

Theyve never done a Discworld film have they?

Im not sure if I would go and see it if it came out. In your mind (at least in my mind) you have one set of images for characters and places that you read and this is often corrupted by viewing the characters on screen. Youll never be able to think of them the same way again. At least thats what I find with many books that have been made into films, the Lord of the Rings, Masyter and Commander, etc

Yeah but isnt Albert meant to be really old and crotchety and stuff? I dont think David Jason has the right kind of look for him, especially if you look at the art of the Discworld book. Still, its a Discworld film, im open to it.

I'm looking forward to this because, unlike other authors *Cough* Dan Brown *Cough*, I don't think that Terry Pratchett will sell out and let the film be ****e.

I remember hearing about the time Pratchett was approached about making a Mort film. Meeting went well until they said they wanted to leave out 'this death character'.

SAM RAIMI SET TO DIRECT THE WEE FREE MEN

EMPIRE MAGAZINE ONLINE REPORTS THAT SAM RAIMI IS DUE TO START WORK
ADAPTING THE WEE FREE MEN ONCE HE HAS FINISHED SHOOTING SPIDERMAN 3.

TERRY SAYS THAT HE HADN'T TOLD ANYONE ABOUT THIS AS LAST MINUTE THINGS
CAN GO WRONG AND AN AUTHOR CAN LOOK RATHER STUPID IN THOSE
CIRCUMSTANCES... HOWEVER, NOW THAT IT'S BEEN ANNOUNCED HE TELLS ME
THAT HE HAS HAD A LENGTHY DISCUSSION WITH SAM ABOUT ASPECTS OF THE
MOVIE AND EVERYONE SEEMS VERY HAPPY. THEY ARE NOW JUST AWAITING
EVENTS. APPARENTLY, HAVING BEEN PUT ONTO THE WEE FREE MEN
BY A WRITER, SAM IS VERY KEEN TO SEE THE MOVIE MADE.

There has been two Discwold animated movies

One of which was Wyrd Sisters

    Soul Music too

They werent all that funny, stuck waaaaaaayyy to closely to the books so I saw all the jokes coming- sometimes word for word!
