Folks, is there anyway of checking if a car has HP on it before you buy it?. Similar to HPI in UK. brother is buying a van, and just wondering can he make sure they guy doesnt have it under HP or anything.

From the AA site:

Hire Purchase Information Centre at 01 2600905. They will check that no HP or leasing finance is outstanding on the vehicle; the fee is €15.
