Looking at purchasing a flue free gas stove. All you need to do is supply two vents. One for draw and another to allow any emissions. Anybody have one of these in their home? are they effective? Don't want to put in a chimney if I don't have to go to the expense.

    Hi AJL,

I don't sell them so this answer is totally unbiased, I did look into the gas fire with a catalytic convertor because they look so easy to install and some very stylish models ( the fires not the brochures :) ).

I asked a good friend and full time installer for a major outlet what he thought of them, his answer was stay away from them because they need so much ventilation both at ceiling and floor level it makes them practically useless.

Another more important point was they give off a lot of condensation even with the ventilation, also he challenged me to get a price for a replacement cat.....

He was right I could get good prices on the new kit but when spares were mentioned the salesmen went off topic.
