I want to grant guest access (wirelessly or otherwise) to our broadband connection, but I'd like to be able to restrict access to paid users. Something like your standard netcafe I guess.

This would be to suit a hotel's main foyer for example - where the customer would purchase time and login.

What equipment would ye recommend? Is there a "all in the box" solution such as the links below?

Commercial metering would cost more than the rest of the system, possibly even the broadband connection too.

You could setup a logon on your proxy server so only authenticated users connect to the internet.

even on XP you could create a few users

NET USER
[username [password | *] [options]] [/DOMAIN]
username {password | *} /ADD [options] [/DOMAIN]
username [/DELETE] [/DOMAIN]
You can use the /expires and time options to create limits on logon

Password and username can be got from %random%%random% (no space) to give long numbers


Then use the AT command to Net User /delete later on to free up the account.
