slow connecting to US sites

just wondering if anyone has noticed when they are connecting to any US sites? myself & few mates have noticed this over the past week to 10 days, we are all on different isps (eircom, ibb, bt etc), connecting to any other sites like bbc.co.uk etc are fine...does anyone know whats up? :confused:
