Where to get CircuitWriter or similar??

I'm going to be modding my LanParty Ultra-D to SLi and was wondering does anyone know of any european suppliers of CircuitWriter or similar conductive ink pen.

There's just something about using a pencil to perform the mod that disturbs me - more art than science - which I think should never be mixed when modding.

Any help appreciated...

You can use windscreen heater repair fluid to do the mod....

Its like liquid copper that sets....

You can probably get it in a Garage

yeh i got one, about 30euros it cost me
if it is a pencil mod you need to do then these pens are no good, but if it is joining 2 points or the like then it is fine

I have an Uncle that fixes electronics for a living - would getting him to do a pro-solder be the best solution?

No need. Too much risk of destroying things.

I used the [horrificly overpriced - ty Maplin] CircuitWorks conductive pen to MP-mod two AthlonXP 2400s, worked perfectly first time.

Well, a solder is a bit permanent and it could damage the chipset......

Try with a pencil first just to make sure it works, then try solder or use the trace pen

get the pen man it is fine for a job like that, solder is dodgy as it is really hot and can damage the cpu

feck. thought I had an easy way out with the solder - going to maplins/peats means 2/3 hours of my life, 30 quid in petrol, plus the cost of the product. I could sell my Ultra-D and buy an SLi-Expert for that - i have no doubts about my uncle's ability with a solder iron but the heat might be the prob alright.

So a trip to Dublin to maplins or peats may be in order..

Hateful that dublin is the only place you can get specialise stuff like that. Might take conzy's advice and try it with a pencil first to see if it works - but really don't fancy removing the HSF twice. (I'm a lazy mofo).

Oh, do maplins/peats stock really good cooling paste? supposedly it makes a helluva diff to chipset temp if you replace the muck that DFI use with some good stuff like Artic Silver 5....as per conzy's link.

make sure maplins have the conductive pen in stock, pity you werent in dublin I would have given you a loan of mine

If he fixes electronics for a liing, i am almost certain he would have a soldering iron that he can change the temp on, I know my freind does for when he is working on lcd's 0.o hope i was any help

He probably does. But it's still not a good idea to go taking a hot piece of metal to an IC package. Especially when a dab from the pen is all you need.
