It was a bit of a surprise at the time when the SME Forum which was established by the Dept of 'business' was to be headed by Joe Macri at Microsoft. If anything, Microsoft are the antithesis of small business so this is like appointing Alex Ferguson as the head of the Liverpool Fan Club, to use an analogy. It didnt make sense at the time and media rightly labeled it as bizarre.

Now yesterday, it was announced that:
"Enterprise Minister Micheal Martin says that ICT audits could ensure small firms are efficient and and making the best use of technology to make them more profitable."

Isnt this a bit strange that the first recommendation from the body is to ensure that effectively SME's buy more Microsoft software ?!?!

I mean come on, I wont be the only one that can see through this!

Surely Micheal Martin has dug himself a whole here, and its up to the 200,000 or whatever SME's to lambast him for:
    a) making such an appointment in the first place, and
    b) allowing it to be abused in such a way

SME's need to get their SME Forum back.
