    What kind of dent will the loss make, if confirmed, on Eircom's balance sheet?

    Isn't this a yearly tender or is this the overall Govt tender that is yearly?

    Rules of public procurement apply - 3 years max term - can be rolled - new tender must be ut to full notice and on TED (european site)

    Results notice must be posted...

    etc etc....

    That's brilliant news.. so instead of eircoms outages that blame Crown Alley or Churchfield we'll now have to put up with some other shower who will soon develop their regular sites for outages. At least eircoms billing seems to be ok God help us if BT enter the frame...

    There seems to be a trend for the Govt. bodies to issue 2 or more tenders (diversity) for each service. To date eircom are generally winning one tender with BT / Smart and others winning the other. Most of the tenders to date have stipulated 10Mb+ bandwidth so fibre is the connection medium. The HSE are on their 3rd tender now.
    Recents tenders are;
    HSE 1 & 2. Prisons. DCMNR Cavan & Clonakilty. Dept Finance Mullingar, Dept. Transport Ballina, etc. Keep any eye on e-tenders.ie

    According to BT (today's article in the Irish Times business part) a gov tender for the VPN contract is expected to come up in summer (or more likely a broken into three parts tender) and BT will want to go for it.
