    Hi All,

I had a fella out yesterday evening to look at the house and give me a price for the plastering.

this guy specialises in the pre coloured spray on plaster. Monocouche I think it is called. He said he would also do it the old traditional way if I wanted but he swears by this stuff. I am going to have a look at a few houses he has done in it in the area.

the price was approx €30K  for both the exterior and interior materials included (story and a half of approx 2700sq ft)

Needless to say I will be getting other quotes but am interested in this stuff 1. because it is pre colored
    2. It is much quicker to do.

Does anyone have any experience of this type of plastering (good or bad!!) or any thoughts generally on plastering.

    thanks

    Cushtie.

Here are a few suppliers of precoloured render systems,

they may have contractors that use their product to price your job.

    greenspan Limerick
    qmaxfinishes Rathcoole
    facades Dublin
    k-rend

Seen it applied on a large house recently, looked good when finished. I imagine it would be far better than painting.

    Cushtie,
I recently got a price from a guy and it was €35 per meter to supply and do job. Mine is also a 1.5 sory house of approx 2,800sq ft. I was going to go for it but the price difference was just too much, approx €20 per meter for sand/cement finish. 4/5k will buy alot of paint and pay someone to do the job a couple of times over.......

    Hi Cushtie

    Did you consider this system?
    http://www.viking-house.net/external-insulation-and-cladding
You get a Monocouche type precoloured finish and a 50mm layer of granitewool insulation.

    Hey cushtie

My plasterer is currently (as I type) putting on this type of render on my extension. It's a single coat coloured render that is applied by steel trowel on day one (no scratch coat needed) and then on day 2 it's scraped with a tool to give a rough (but flat) type of finish.

I bought 50 bags (to cover 50m2 of wall) and supply cost me €10 per bag ex vat. My plasterer is charging €600 euro for labour so all in (including beading) will be €1268.

The supplier I used was Facade Systems - www.facades.ie and the product I'm using is the One Coat Cementitious render - Ivory colour.

As for experience with this - our house was done using this and it's great - no maintenance.

    Hope this helps.
