Cant see wenger buying both Nasri and Arshavin........they look to play very similar positions.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

Perhaps but Arsenal - Arsne - Arshavin, seems right to me.

Nasri seems a bit raw to me but, that said Arshavin would be a luxury.

Although if Rosicky continues to be out so often, he'd be needed.

It would actually be great if Arsne said 'I know I said we needed some defensive players but I've just gone ahead and spent all the budget on attackers instead"

Also, most talented Russian player playing for the national team that's bankrolled by Abramovich. Don't think it's Arsenal he'd be going to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,502 ✭✭✭MBC

Just to add i'd be delighted if he did buy them both.

Wonder why wenger isnt lookin at a centre back.........like he has already pointed out that we struggled last year with route one football played against us:confused: also gallas/senderos didnt have the greatest euro's either........I think we really need cover badly at this stage.

Abramovich does not own his soul.

I’m a little bit worried that Arsene the Idealist will triumph over Arsene the Pragmatist this summer. However should the former win out then I think Arshavin is a realistic target. He wouldn’t be that pricey, he’d suit our game perfectly and has previously spoken about how he likes Arsenal. I’m still hopeful.

Add the sale of Hleb to the reported (although probably BS) transfer kitty of £30m and Arsene could probably get Nasri, Ramsey, Arshavin, Inler and Albiol. That’d be awesome. While I’m dreaming, why not get Gomes too. Ahhh…

    ...and Villa

    ....Please :)

Don't want Villa. Would rather stick with van Persie, Eduardo, Vela and Walcott.

Nasri is in London having a medical today, hopefully the deal will be concluded and announced later.

i would take villa if he was going but there are still quality players at the club so its not like we need a forward. wenger should really be looking into his defence. if and when arsenal throw the league away again this season it will be because of that defence.

hopefully the nasri deal is done today.

Haha i love how the rumours of Clichy leaving lasted about 2 hours today before he signed a new deal:pac:

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

The Clichy rumours were pretty funny. Swap Arsenal for Roma? Purlease!

The media must have a very low opinion of us if they think our superstars would rather play in Serie A.

    Waitaminute... damn Flamini

    Not good news, I think...

    Ade leaving us?

Ade can leave if an appropriate replacement is brought in. With Santa Cruz's injury record I'd be rather concerned if he was that replacement though.

I dont want him to leave at all. We are trying to build a team yet everybody wants to leave...WTF!

    Arshavin wants to leave Zenit.

    Come on Arsene!

apparently Arsenal have bid for a guy called Diogo.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_3718354,00.html
Brazilian club Portuguesa claim they have turned down an Arsenal bid for their highly-rated striker Diogo.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising strikers in Brazil after scoring 18 goals in the league last season.

He has continued his form this term with four goals in six games and now he is attracting major attention from Europe.

Arsenal first showed an interest earlier this year and now the Sao Paolo-based club claim that they have not turned down a bid from The Gunners.

"We have refused an offer from Arsenal, because it was too low," Portuguesa director Andre Heleno was quoted by the Daily Star.

"Up to now the biggest offer has come from Italy, which was £9million, but we will start to think about selling him at £12million."

    Keen on move

Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Fiortentina, and Olympiakos have all been linked with Diogo - who admits he is ready to move to Europe.

"I'm going through a great moment with Portuguesa, but I have a dream of playing in Europe and if it happens now then I'm ready for it," he said.

"But I must respect my commitment to this team, and I'll only go if there's an offer that's good for both me and the club."

anyone know much about him? the name rings a bell, but i think it might because of FM... :o

    From BBC Gossip;

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has not passed a medical at Emirates Stadium prior to a proposed move to Arsenal, according to his agent. (setantasports.com, 1226)

does that mean Eto'o hasn't taken a medical, wont be taking a medical or has failed his medical?

Hasn't taken one because it's a load of balloney.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,164 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Right I was away for 2 weeks. What did I miss, if anything?

    What I'm gathering is that...

Adebayor may actually leave. Nasri still a 'done deal'. Hleb still not gone.

    Anything else?

Wenger said he wont be buying anyone new for the defence.

I would be very surprised if he did not buy a defender although I did read that quote.

it suprised me too, thats why i remembered it.

thought you'd be getting a senior CB as a squad player. Dunne was a name mentioned a while ago.

I think we are ok at rb as we have Eboue who would be much better suited to rb rather than rm, lb we are also fine, cb is deffo a problem area, although he really seems to rate Song, I still feel he will go out and buy a proven cb.

i actually thought Song looked very good when he was on loan at Charlton too.

Adebayor wrote a letter to the gunners board asking to be allowed to speak to Milan.

Fee of €23million is what's being thrown around.

He#s 24, time for him to move to a big club :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,164 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

I don't think he's that good... not 'world class' so to speak, but it'd be awful to lose Adebayor. Really fúcks up how far Arsenal came in the last year when your best players just leave at the end of the season.

Hleb I can live with. While he was good, past championship winning teams have always had really great players and goalscorers on the wing, Overmars, Pires, Ljungberg to a lesser extent. Hleb doesn't really seem to fit at times.

Flamini is a loss Arsenal could have done without. Feels like when Edu left, but worse.

Then on top of that it just sends out the wrong kind of message when your best players jump ship as soon as the opportunity arrives.

Arsenal want to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to Barcelona and the Spanish club have an agreement with the player, says Fifa agent Ernesto Bronzetti. (Italian TV station Radio Radio TV, 1908 BST)

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has not passed a medical at Emirates Stadium prior to a proposed move to Arsenal, according to his agent. (setantasports.com, 1226 BST)

obviously could be bollocks considering the source is the beeb's rumours page but how about an Eto'o/Adebayor swap? Afterall Eto'o is now considerd "surplus to requirment" at Barca

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

Considering the age difference between Eto'o and Ade I'd want cash in the deal aswell. Other than that it could be good business.

If we are willing to sell, I would imagine we have someone good lined up as a replacement. I don't think it is Eto'o

    you serious eto'o is awesome.

    Wenger has pulled off a few - Reyes/Baptista, Cole/Gallas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

Thing about Eto'o is while he is great he'd probably want massive wages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

I'm not sure I'd be that interested in Eto'o coming to Arsenal.
He's not as good as he used to be and I couldn't really see him adapting to the English game too fast...

easily, he would explode their wage structure. you'll have Fabregas, Toure, Gallas looking for parity, and others like Clichy and Sagna will probably want a raise too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

No way will Wenger do a straight swap, Ade for Eto.

Eto's nuts and injured a good bit. Ade's at the most marketable age for a big centre forward.

So if Ade goes, who do we want?

Villa looks a good option now. Wonder what wages he's on at Valencia. Bendtner could still be the big man when needed.

Don't think we can get Arshavin now without him specifically choosing Arsenal which won't happen.

If Ade leaves then we'd better get signing, Nasri not enough, Nasri and Villa prob not enough. Nasri, Villa and Arshavin probably good.

i wouldn't want Villa in a straight swap for Adebayor. Adebayor's the CF, the guy who holds up the ball for the small mobile forwards like Villa\VP\Hleb\Fabregas\Walcott etc. if you make a straight swap Arsenal could go back to being toothless against the 10behindtheballstrugglinglowerdivision sides... remember Villa looks best when counter attacking, something Arsenal don't get too much opportunity to do these days...

if he gets rid of Adebayor though, does this mean he thinks Bendtner is good enough to start next season? because there aren't many options available to replace him with tbh unless he goes for the completely unproven (again ;)).

Adebayor really offered Arsenal a different way of scoring this year, if you replaced him with Villa you'd revert to an older style of Arsenal. You need somebody like Adebayor who can play in the Arsenal way, but also is a target man.

That's why Adebayor is pretty much the best target striker for a club like Arsenal or United, and United have been having trouble getting somebody like him. We had Saha but he's always injuried. That sort of striker is a dime a dozen, and not easily replaced imo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

So apparently now Podolski is a target for us.

    Some line up next year

Arshavin, Nasri, Fabregas, Villa, Podolski

Maybe we can start a rumor if we try hard enough

Arsenal to sign Senna!! I heard it from a great source.

I really hate the silly season! The transfer window should start the day after the Premiership finishes and last for 24hours!

Nasri is officially an Arsenal player accroding to Sky Sports News. should be a good signing for E20m.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,164 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

    Bout fúcking time.

    Stupidly long transfer deal.

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

Still no confirmation of the Nasri signing on Arsenal.com. €20m is a lot higher than all the other figures being reported also.

    Squad numbers announced:

    Almunia gets #1
    Vela gets #12
    Ramsey gets #16

// Edit - Arsenal.com has photos of Nasri on the website now, so an announcement may be forthcoming.

    Disagree.

He had the Euro's to play first, no country is gonna want their players talking about club contracts while playing internationals.

It was supposed to be sewn up well before the Euro's. How long was this supposed to be a done deal for?

Sounds like the agent drew it out to see if Nasri shone at the Euro's to drive up the price. Didn't happen so now it's gone through.
