Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Recommendations on a PDA phone?

    Hi,

I was over in the US recently and got to play with my cousin's Palm Treo 650w Verizon phone. I know there's a quad-band version of it here (for a mere €499 on O2 ;) ) and that there is a successor coming out (the 700), although it has too little memory (32MB) to really make it work properly with Windows Mobile 5.

I was just wondering if anyone had opinions as to good PDA phones that are presently / soon to be available. The main feature I'm really looking for is good synchronization with the PC to keep my schedule sync'd and for new appointments to be easily added via the phone, as I typically remember things that I need to do when I'm not in the office! Having a memory card slot would also be a bonus for playing the odd MP3 or video clip. The XDA is a bit too wide for my liking to be a phone. The SE 900 is nice but I'm a bit worried about snapping off the flappy keypad at the front!

Can the Nokia 6280 be used as such?

(Edit: Just saw the announcement of the BenQ P51.. Specs look very nice, though in silver?
Also just came across this: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/smartphone.htm)

The SE900 is a really nice phone/pda combo ... the keyboard is quite sturdy ... you won't snap it off accidentally:)

Only one gripe ... over time, the action of the stylus on the screen leaves it marked and scratched ... would put you in mind of a brillo pad ... wouldn't stop me recommending it .. but something to bear in mind

it's always tempting to wait a wee while ... the next generation is always just around the corner

the BenQ P51 does look lovely ... but I like the look of this one also

I would recommend the XDA Exec, it is a solid but big phone with a lot of functionality...Although WM5 and ASync are still riddled with bugs

Mmm, lots of nice models there! I also just read that the Palm Treo 650 is going to be replaced by the 700p later this year ... but it'll only be on CDMA first (I think).

    Cheers for the pointers!

Have you looked at the Nokia E61? Nice phone, lots of email, apps and wifi - no camera but that doesn't bother me.

The Orange SPV C600 looks like a pretty nice phone also (UK£150 on PAYG) - but of course I'd need to be able to get it unlocked to continue using it here! The i-mate SP5 is also very nice but very expensive.

Edit: just realized: these smartphones don't have a touch screen. Hmm. Would make playing WM2003/WM5 games on them difficult!
