Crash banned me from the TCD forum for no reason for two months. All I called him was a little bastard French bearded Jew woman*. Now this "might" have been racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic, but I don't think I dissevered my ban from the soccer forum for it... I may be mixing up reality and fiction again.

The bans were very harsh. The comments that PHP highlighted that went unpunished indicates an imbalance in the attituded towards certain users.

It's not the first time United supporters have been singled out for "special treatment" here but I had hoped the soccer forum had moved on from there.

Interestingly I am yet to see any of Gandalfs posts on the soccer forum reported and believe it or not, I do not read every post in every thread.

TBH I would have no problem banning Gandalf, or ecksor or DeVore if it came to it, but give us a hand at least, if you want a post reviewed report it, if you do not and then please do not cry foul when you see some imagined injustice.

Ye, I see once again you fail to anwser any of the questions.

I don't really think gandalf's post warrents banning, but it is more banworthy than my post, but I'm still not sure why I was banned. And it still hasn't been explained, except that it's 'trolling', despite my asking what part, and no response being given.

Ultimately if you are going to hold this standard, which appears to be just whatever you feel like, shouldn't you hold it to all people who post on the thread?

Also, I'd imagine by now, that you've seen gandalf's post on this thread, since you know, you've read it. So have you made your mind up yet? Are you going to ban him?

Are you seriously suggesting that just because someone else got away with something you "claim" was the same as what you did, that you shouldn't be punished? That's not how it works.

Moderators have discretion, they don't have to apply the rules in the same way to everyone. It's a case by case thing, you should know this, being one.

In general one mod will not over turn another mods decision, It's a bad example to set.

Gandalfs post was not reported because it was banter the same as the stuff the other guys got banned for. Real soccer fans are well used to and none of it merits a banning.

It's obvious that the current rule structure is being used to point score, maybe it's time for yet another rethink.

If I recall correctly this zero tolerance has stemmed from the ban on calling man united fans "scum" but it has got to the point where we have seen users banned for calling a manager an idiot and even less offensive stuff. It appears to me that the thinking behind the current rules is right but would it be possible to have the banning line moved back a wee bit to allow a certain amount of banter. At the moment everything is black and white maybe a little grey is what is needed.

I'm not one to go crying to mods everytime I see a post I don't necessarily agree with. Which is why I did not report his post. But once I saw that I was banned I decided that I should make a complaint about his post. Am I wrong to do so?!

Do you have to recieve a report in order to ban someone T4TF?

Cmon Jank , you and I both know what the lads were doing . The same thing you and half the soccer forum would have been doing if it were United or Liverpool in Arsenal's position. It happens all the time on the soccer forum and up to now has not had such a reaction from the mods.

It will be interesting down the road to see if there is consistancy when the shoe is on the other foot.

BTW the shoe will never be on the other foot, unless you are a mod of soccer and I doubt that that will ever happen, then you can make the decisions and take the flack.
