Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's my understanding that TOR can be used to reroute Internet communications through random hubs thereby concealing your original point of transmission (i.e., used as an Internet security programme). Does this work? Does it slow down your communications? Are there peak times to avoid went hubs may be overtaxed? Any problems with using TOR? User friendly or a pain? Any useful comments appreciated.

    Hi!
I use TOR from time to time, but it does slow things down so I only use it when I need to hide IP addresses. I wrote a little guide and some notes, see link above, which may help you. Its a neat program, and if more people donated bandwidth it would get a bit faster, if you like it, consider acting as a node and help the network to run faster!

There are a few comercial hidden IP progs out there which are worth a look if this is a serious issue for you, tbh I just use it to hide my IP when posting on the odd gaming forum etc where I know some vindictive player I fragged the hell out of might try to use my IP. I dont really hve much to hide on a day to day basis to TOR is ideal :)

    Works well.

Slows the hell out of connection due to bandwidth being limited and alledged bittorrent abuse.

Is suted to IRC and IM usage but web surfing is not worth the pain.

Peak times are usually when Americans come online.

Never had any issues bar speed but all i use it for is Messageing and IRC.

I tried it but the speed makes it a bloody nightmare.

its also worth mentioning that if you are using TOR you should address the DNS side of things as you are still sending DNS quries when just configuring a IM client or browser . DNS traffic can be addressed in the following link.

I find ii amkes the whole thing slower but TOR is still a great little app IMO.
