    Hi

I was wondering if anyone knows the effect of stopping the rotation of a 220V 2.2kW (~3 HP) induction motor while it's turning obviously. The motor is on a table saw and very occasionally the blade binds while cutting wood and the blade stops... today I was changing the blade for the first time and I notice that the blade is mounted directly on the motor and so when the blade stops I reckon the motor stops as well... is this very bad for the motor?

I think it's an induction motor because of the soft start and quiet operation.

    Cheers
    Joe
