Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Two instances of XP home

I just reinstalled XP home on a friend's laptop for him, but now on reboot its showing two instances of XP home are installed and asks me to choose which to boot etc.

I reformatted the HD before I installed it, so I dunno where this second installation is coming from. There's only one WINDOWS folder on the boot (and only) partition too.

    Any ideas?

What are the names of the boot options?
Are you 100% sure you formated the HDD?
Did you use FDISK to delete all existing partitions or did you use the format option during the install? Are you sure you used the correct format options?
What happens when you try to boot the second option for XP Home? Does it boot?
    Finally,
Do a search for boot.ini (should be a hidden file on the root of the C:\ drive) post the contents of the file here.....

used the format option during install (NTFS, non-quick). Second option boots into the same instance of windows.

Just edited boot.ini now, forgot about that. Seems to be ok. Problem solved.
