5 Ghz Bridge, legal in this country?

I recently moved here from germany, living in the sticks now. My mate has bt broadband, but living 8km away, as the crow flies. There is free line of sight. Another (german) mate suggested 5 Ghz over 2.4 because of the 1W output you could use legally (in germany that is). What are the rules in Ireland? Comreg site is too difficult for me.
Hope someone is able to help me.

5GHz is license-exempt. (i.e. Legal)

Hi, you actually need very very little power to go 8 km,but maybe 5ghz may be a better idea for you anyway , less "noisy"(for now anyway),more throughput ,but it does need good line of sight.
If you don't mind an afternoon assembling stuff maybe something like this at each end will do the trick

Something like two osbridges pointing at each other would do fine. the 5XLi unit maybe http://www.osbridge.com/products5.php

Router board etc etc too much hassle to assemble etc. Drop us an IM and I would be able to supply you with two osbridges...

Should also add that yes, 5Ghzx is legal but commreg would like if you registered your link with them.
Bascially on BAND A you are allow max 200mW, BAND B 1W, Band C 2W

The mikrotik/wrap/whatever solution is expandible though in the future.
It may be a bit more hassle to assemble but it 'Will Work' as opposed to 'Should work/stay working'
