You've got to hand it to Hot Press, not only do they continue to bravely sail against the tide of popular music (we've heard enough about Julie Feeney thanks), confidently ignore our disinterest in Northern Irish politics and/or gay rights (its not the 80s any more Niall) and generally produce a shoddy publication (forgetting to put in page numbers in the index when going to print etc etc) - now they've turned their hand to robbery.

You'll notice that when you go online to order the Hot Press Annual they state that you can buy it for a bargain pricec of €16.95 + P&P as opposed to €19.95 in the shops.

What they don't tell you is that p&p is €5 to Ireland! Way to show your disdain for your public Hot Press, rob us and treat us like idiots all in one fell swoop. Nice work.

Of course the icing on the cake is that after ordering the thing you get an email basically saying "erm, we haven't quite finished it yet and we'll email you when its ready".

    Twats.

But why would you order it if you dislike the content?

The yearbook has contacts, facts on sales etc etc - its a useful resource. That's not really the point though.

good point. I sometimes wonder why they give so much time and column space to the gay dating scene. Kind of boring if you're not gay. Also, the sex column is atrocious, just one big long boring drawn out article every week about some sexual aspect everyone's tired of talking about accompanied by a few cut and paste stories from the internet. plus the reviews are pretty ****e.

I guess you are right it needs to make up its mind once and for all. Be a music magazine or be a political magazine. Considering you can buy uncut for a little more get a high gloss mag with a CD compared to a tatty arkward shaped paper like thing that obssess on political views and subject of no interest.

I don't know anybody who buys it and any time I do have a copy of it I can't get over the poor design. Baddly chopped pictures mixed together on the cover let you know what to expect inside.

I stopped getting it precisely because of the horrid mix of politics and music. Its like their political 'columnists' are really a pack of 15 year olds who just read some Chomsky. If I wanted to listen to rabid anti-US adminism(yes I just made that up) from a pack of socialist apologists I'd put on Castro. At least he has some actual charisma.Just leave the politics out-you haven't a clue what you are talking about.

Plus it seems to have an inbred hate of anything Hip-Hop esque, although thats unsuprising coming from a Irish rock mag. ;)
